Speaking of dogs. I know this is OT, but I am at a loss of what to do. New next door neighbor that is moving in, he is renovating the house and not staying there full-time, has been leaving his dog in the backyard since this weekend. The dog was barking all Sunday night. Dog was still barking yesterday, so I went over to check on it. He is putting the dog, which is a Collie, in a small crate on the back porch with no shelter and it is in that crate for hours. And I mean hours. It rained all yesterday and the dog was soaked. It has zero food or water. I called animal control for help on what to do, but was told they would not be in until today and they would not dispatch an officer out. When the neighbor came home yesterday, I marched my ass over to his house and lost my absolute crap on him and said what he was doing is abuse. And in true Marnificent fashion, cursed up a storm. Sure, not my finest moment, but if you want to see me VERY MAD, mistreat a child or animal and I will rip you a new one. Neighbor promised me he was rehoming the dog because he did not have the time or setup to properly care for the dog. I offered to take the dog until he can rehome it because the situation is cruel. He declined. Check on the dog today and it was in the crate again. Put in a call to animal control and nothing. Some may say I am a nosey neighbor, but I am the type that when I see something wrong, I do something. What am I going to do? Call the police? Should I reach out to a rescue group? Am I wrong in my concern? I have lost sleep and shed some tears with worry over this.
