Thanks Socal and CAM for the humor. Darlene and her shenanigans are too depressing to contemplate at times. Between her lies about her mom, her fake persona and her treatment of her son, any levity concerning her is appreciated. -

I wonder if she filmed this video before the comments about Pat doing great. Surely she couldn’t have read those comments and then come out with this story about Pat’s walking and dementia so soon after.
Also, she would have been all over the Matthew Perry story. Sad about Matthew Perry though.
I think Darlene makes up scenarios in her head and just relates her imaginings as true stories. She doesn’t have much to talk about otherwise. -

I don’t know why Darlene says that Robbie reminds her of Andrew so much. They were nothing alike in personality, imo. I looked at many of the Robbie videos. To me Andrew seems to have a very different personality although they may share some characteristics. At any rate, Darlene is nothing like Robbie’s mom, who was a really devoted mom, though I do see where Darlene got her surface traits from with regards to Andrew. Robbie’s mom also called Robbie “handsome” and would say, “Mommy help”, etc., and that was long before Darlene even started her channel. Darlene filched Robbie’s mom’s expressions. -

God knows, the screenshots of Darlene aren’t exactly things of beauty.
Dar in her ensemble from the Victorian widow’s weeds party collection or the saloon madam’s dinner outfit and her Baby Jane Hudson curls and melting face was a fright. She could have looked a lot better. I wonder what Steve said when she appeared. “Babe, you look beautiful!” or “Dear, you’re wearing that?” -

Maybe we all feel like that sometimes, but the circumstances have to be more than just not getting enough support (Darlene’s reason), and in any case, who’d say it on camera?

As mentioned recently, the kitchen and bathroom counters, for example. She doesn’t need to redo the whole kitchen, just change the countertops, sink and backsplash. Same for bathrooms. Darlene's doing her mom's laundry? Isn't part of assisted living having the caregivers in the facility do that? That was one of the very reasons Dar found her mom intolerable - she didn't want to do her laundry. Now she's explaining to viewers how she still has soooo many responsibilities relating to her mom.
How hot could it have been in Petawawa the last two weeks that it was too hot to go outside and see the fall foliage? If you can go shopping every other day, you can drive your whiny ass to a park and walk around for 30 minutes. No, according to Darlene, they were too busy wearing shorts and sandals and barbequing to see the leaves. It wasn't hot drink weather, so she didn't see the outdoors beyond what was visible from her walks to/from her car to go shopping. Gee, what was the point of that new deck and all of the outdoor furniture when it's too hot to use it? I guess Darlene has two days to use it before it's too cold.

I agree, CAM, and have been thinking the same thing. At the time we used to think she looked awful, but now I look back at her earlier videos and think wow, she looked “nice” back then. Comparatively, of course. Even up to the last video you posted from just a year ago.

Looking back at her past Thanksgiving videos, Darlene did make some effort to show something. In one she was making pies, another (or the same one) showcased the one-legged turkey, etc., another showed olives piled up on the plate like a side dish. It was not the best food, but she did show something. Now nothing at all. What’s a YT homemaker channel without showing holiday prep and how that family celebrates? There’s no point to just trailing around stores showing the holiday decor, or showing your own seasonal decor, if the actual main holiday of the season is blocked out. What kind of YouTuber content is that!? -

I think that Steve and Darlene are separated but still living under the same roof. He gos his own way. Its the only way to explain how she is able to spend the money she spends. I sure whatever Pat had gos to the retirement home she lives in.
She will keep Andrew under her roof bc she needs his monthly check to support her food and shopping addictions.
It has been and will always be All About Darlene!
Glad you said it, Bubbe. That’s what I meant by “personality type” in an effort not to use the actual word, then have to use the usual, “not diagnosing, just my opinion” disclaimer. If this is indeed the case with her, she won’t have any sense of embarrassment or empathy, and that’s what’s so confusing to others looking on.

Yes, Sophia. This behavior is very confusing to most people. We can’t understand it and it make us angry and flabbergasted at the sense of entitlement. Unfortunately, these people won’t improve or change. I believe the people at Rise may realize this and will know how to react appropriately. They’ll be kind to Andrew and do their best for him, and ignore Darlene. It’s useless to do anything else.

I think Darlene has no sense of embarrassment and that’s why she can continue to show up on YT with the content she offers, and why she can be perfectly happy declining to participate in activities for her own son’s program. If there’s no immediate benefit to her, she’s not going to put herself out, and she’s too short-sighted to consider any long term effects to her own detriment from her lack of interest or participation. What if the program closes? What if for some reason they can’t accommodate Andrew anymore because of her failure to involve herself, and the costs to the program are too high to write off? (They have to provide someone to be there early when she drops him off, for example). Perhaps all this is not really a probability and she knows this and relies on it being so. That makes her lack of a sense of embarrassment even more pronounced.
Most people would be so grateful for the program that they’d want to participate and help out. I must say Darlene did a great job at her facade management in the early days when she did that interview and presented herself as a fundamental volunteer in the whole program. That’s shows she’s crafty, but up to a point.
