Carol might not know how much an Hermes bracelet costs, so she has to tell them so they know how much she can spend on herself, but also Jen earns her *own* money and *deserves* a treat! |

| | I don't think the Rosses watch her on snap or really care that much. Or maybe they do; neither Suzanne nor Emily seem like fashion plates. I think she only started acting like she had to save for things when her YouTube channel became more popular and she decided she wanted to be "relatable," or maybe she realized that most women don't get a quarterly allowance for "PDs" when their lives of going to the Container Store to get more things to organize their hoard with get too stressful. |

| I think that Jen's justification of her purchases, or trying to act like "oh this expensive thing is something I've wanted for a long time," when sometimes it's not a $600 bracelet but a $60 sweater, is what irritates people. I agree about Amelia Liana: She's way richer than the Rosses, but it's less obnoxious. Yes, she has all these things, but her family seems really close and normal for such a rich family and she doesn't try to justify her spending. If you want to treat yourself to something super expensive, Amelia can let you know if it's worth it and she uses a mix of super low and super high end without making a huge deal about it.
If Jen was just unapologetically a big spender, it would come off differently. It's the justification that feels false and patronizing. I was watching Trisha Paytas on snap and she was just like, "I buy stuff because my life is empty and it makes me happy temporarily," and that's Jen. I wouldn't want a bowling alley full of ugly expensive things instead of friends and genuine relationships. |
