I wonder if her ridiculous spending habits have anything to do with her parents and not always getting everything she wanted growing up. I remember her poking fun at her mom in the Ireland vlog for always being a cheapskate (the irony of course being that her mom invited her on the trip and paid for everything). Her parents seem like sensible, non-flashy people, which is the exact opposite of Kristina. It's like she's experiencing what it is like to have money for the first time in her life. |

I've always got the sense that HB's family is a lot more well off than Kristina's, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's the only one who has loans. I know HB's Dad is an orthopedic surgeon and his sister is a RN (he also has a brother that I remember Kristina referencing in Vlogmas). HB's family at one time was in the ranching and farming business (I believe the ranch that they went to for Christmas used to belong to his great-grandpa), so who knows if they still do that or if the family has a giant trust fund.
Personally, I hate when she uses the sob story of "...while everyone was buying houses and cars" to justify purchases. It's all a facade like she's struggled or had to put off her dreams of owning nice stuff while she toiled away at school. Have you seen her wedding ring? Tell me how HB afforded that as a student when they were both in the midst of finishing their bachelors/getting into medical school. Also, if I remember correctly they owned their house in Houston, she was leasing a nice SUV and she was buying luxury goods and that was all while they were still doing their residencies. With the way the economy is and how high student loans are, it's not uncommon for college graduates to be late bloomers in life with things like buying a house (regardless of what your profession is). Yes, she worked hard. Yes, becoming a doctor is a major accomplishment. And yes, she deserves to reap the rewards. But she ALWAYS comes off as being so entitled to things.

Do you watch her videos regularly? I'm not 100 percent sure, but I seem to remember her talking about a pair of Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots during Vlogmas. She apparently went to the mall to try them on and was mortified when she could not get them off because of her stubby legs.
On a side note, I've always though that Kristina looks like a blonde Idina Menzel. They are both pretty, but they also look dead behind the eyes at times. |
