| I love Minimal Mom and her husband Tom. One because they build and do projects themselves. I like handy competent people. Not useless people. And those kids are outside creating their own imaginative games. The kids also learn how to build and paint, etc.

| Felt like I needed to put my stake in the sand about Don/Jen and the reasons behind the big D. What did Jen provide to the marriage, really? Sex. That's about it, from Don's perspective. Jen didn't cook, didn't have to do much cleaning due to the weekly cleaning service, I guess she kept their sheets clean and managed to get the bills on autopay? Planned their vacations? But what of substance that really meant anything to Don? Sex and eating the food he made. Easily replaceable. What did Don provide to Jen that meant anything to her? Money. That's about it. The money to allow her to live out her indulgent self-centered lifestyle with nary a care about real responsibility for anything. Anytime anything went wrong - just throw some money on it.
That was part of their problem. Neither of them seemed to provide anything to the other that wasn't totally superficial and replaceable. At least Don actually seemed to enjoy having Jen around and doing things for her (unless it was all a show for YT and/or a weird pre-sex thing, which is totally possible). Jen was all about doing what she wanted and doing nice things for people to the extent it made her feel good. I could totally see Jen closing up the candy shop after kids and once she went "vegan not vegan", Don realizing that they really had absolutely nothing in common except two crotch goblins. Don probably checked out after realizing that she is a narcissistic jerkface and that he could get his jollies elsewhere and with far less drama. Jen's not the only lady out there with a former great pair of boobs, apparently, and he probably finally realized that after he got his head out of his ass for long enough to look around.
As for who dumped whom, I agree with those that suggest Jen initiated the conversation but didn't expect Don to be up for it. So I guess she technically suggested it but without him it wouldn't have happened. If Don wanted to stay married, they wouldn't be in this position. Jen took that badly and has been downward spiraling since then. She's not in a good place. |
