| I wonder if Jen will bring her own food to Thanksgiving at Emily's or expect her to provide some customised options to suit her new plant based journey/season in life? Would she eat eggs from Farmer Jeffs hens?
One of my partners sisters is vegan and her sanctimonious attitude about it seems to cause a lot of friction, especially when she expects other peoples birthday cakes to be vegan! One of his other sisters is vegetarian and they aren't a family that celebrates with lots of meat like the Ross family. |

Parents may fail their child in teaching them about the world, but her total lack of interest for the world and what happens outside of her bubble or anything not shopping related is on her. Parents aren't your only source of information about the world, especially when you hit the teenage years.
It's too easy to say that "no one told you before" when she just faffed abut the house for now almost 20 years (I know having 2 young kids is a full time job, but she still has plenty of time to listen/watch the news or documentaries, so I still count this as "faffing about the house, when it comes to informing herself about the world).
It's even more frustrating that she had that viewer send the bracelet from an organization helping women, and she just brushed it off like "apparently, women are abused somewhere far away"... are you blaming that on your mother too, Jen?
I think she cultivates the bubble on purpose, a friend does the same thing. Like Jen she's fairly intelligent, has lots of hobbies, educated and knows about the subjects she's interested in but doesn't even just not watch or read the news, she avoids it. |
