I have had a toy teddy bear Pomeranian and I now rescued a miniature poodle, they both had collapsed tracheas when my teddy bear Pomeranian passed away a few years ago there was nothing to do but put him on but steroids and or liquid hydrocodone which kept him drugged up and I agreed with you I did not want to do it anymore,therefore when his quality of life got too bad I sent him on to" Pet Heaven", HOWEVER my friend is a vet and the medicine I'm about to tell you about is used for nausea THEN they found out ,according to her less than a year ago that it also basically completely takes away symptoms of collapsed trachea there's no cure for it that it takes away the hacking and coughing etc....I was VERY skeptical but desperate because she was hacking just like pom pom did BUT so much that it kept me awake at night constantly etc and I was not going to let her live like so before I had to let go of her as well with a shattered heart I had nothing to lose but to try it. it's only 4 pills in a box and 4 pills last an entire month because of the weight of our dogs, you break each pill into four pieces, then you only give them am1/4 a piece every other day, so 4 pills last an entire month and it's around $30... Within the second pill, I kid you not ,she has not coughed or hacked but maybe 5 times in 6 months !!!!! It's called Cerenia and again it's used for nausea in dogs and they recently found out it does something to the trach , and again I will say this since ...she's been on it for 6 months she has hacked maybe five times that's it!!!!! I'm not trying to push or pressure you at all but I honestly am crying as I'm writing this because where I live now is in BFE and they were just giving her hydrocodone syrup and it was barely helping and keeping her drugged up so I went back to my vet where I'm from in another state and they immediately suggested this and it has turned her life around!!!! 🐕
