Cottonwood, In answer to your questions: The Amish definitely do have mirrors in their homes. Always have. I think that is a subject that has been used by people who want to exploit the Amish in books, You-Tube etc. So that is a myth. Same as the myth that the young people sleep with a board between them! That’s why I keep saying that so much in movies, books, even documentaries and You-Tube is false. Always has been and always will be. Those things can’t be trusted as the truth, plain & simple! And that includes, “Miss Know-It-All, Tessie”!
And yes if she’s trying to look Amish she does need to quit wearing make-up.
As far as dolls being graven images? That may have been considered, maybe 50-75 years ago. But today Amish will buy dolls with faces for their little girls all the time. In fact in the Amish stores they have the dolls AND Amish clothing that fit those particular dolls. For boy dolls and girl dolls! You can even get the hats for a boy doll. Cute. So people that say those things are pretty much the same people who I mentioned about the mirrors.
Keep in mind that whenever I talk about the Amish, I’m talking about the ones that live in Tessie’s state! Other states may be different in some things.
BTW, Keep your eyes peeled to see her comb her hair like the Amish women do! See if doesn’t happen?

When I found this forum, I was so glad to find that I wasn’t crazy for thinking that Tessie has a screw loose.

TruthBeTold7 That was a very interesting post about Amish finances. Yes, Tessie gives the impression that they all live in poverty or low income, just like she does. She thinks she is being relatable and has a connection with them.

Maybe it's just me but when talks about the Amish she seems to talk about them like they are some sort of oddity.

The purple dress and black apron now pretending to be Amish with a full face of makeup and bright pink lipstick just makes me roll my eyes. I don't know a lot about the Amish. I've read a few books over the years and watched a few documentaries. I've learned more from all your posts here.

She says the Amish shop frugally. They don’t have a lot of money???????????????? Oh, blah, blah, blah! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That would be wrong, wrong, wrong!!!! Most Amish DO have a lot of money! How would she know or even think they don’t? Just cause she sees some of them shopping in the discount stores & thrift stores? Let her shop at Costco – it’s a very popular Amish hang-out -- she’ll see Amish everywhere! And yes, they have their carts (multiple carts sometimes) FULL --- they will lay out hundreds & hundreds of dollars in just one shopping trip there! Not even kidding you! It’s not frugal shopping there!

Let me tell you, there are some very, very wealthy Amish around. All you have to do is drive through their communities and see ALL the new homes. Not just homes, but whole new properties, as in a new house, a new barn, a new shed and on & on! They’re everywhere! Their remodeled or newer homes/properties are often so beautiful & modern-looking that you can’t even tell they are Amish residences! Unless of course you see a buggy or something that represents them on the property.

I personally know an Amish millionaire! And I think if we would know the facts, there are quite a few more just like him! The Amish will spend like crazy --- hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy a farm or property. A million dollars or more is not unusual. This is the truth! Many, many, many of them buy rental properties as an investment. A city close to me has a huge portion of it that is Amish owned rentals!

Does anyone here have any idea how many HUGE business are owned by the Amish? Many have humongous new gorgeous, modern buildings where they house their businesses in! New ones are being built ALL the time. I’m talking very successful businesses. Some, where they will drive out-of-state to work and even deal with people from over-seas!

How does she think these things all happen? With people who have no money??? She makes the Amish look like they are poor peons! No, she can never persuade me that the Amish don’t have much money. Believe me, I know better. She is totally misrepresenting them as is so very typical for her to do. I despise when she does that to anyone!

That book about Y2K is so way outdated! Y2K was almost 24 years ago, for crying out loud! The Amish live way different now than they did back then! Yes, they still grow, harvest, and make their own food, but they also splurge a lot on pre-packaged foods, snacks, and what I would call junk foods.

Amish in other states might be different in some of these things but not the state Tessie lives in!

I just told my husband what she said about the Amish & money. He said, “The Amish are loaded! But they work hard for it! She has no clue and is showing her own ignorance!”

She can pretend & dress stupidly all she wants, but the truth is that her lifestyle is as far removed from the Amish lifestyle as she is from the “man on the moon”!

If she wants to be like the Amish so much, then let me actually see her bake a double crust fruit pie, a shoo-fly pie and some Whoopie pies. Totally from scratch, and not just show the beginning or pretending of the process, but the entire thing, how everything, and I mean EVERY LAST detail, is done from start to finish. Every single step of it! And then show us the lovely creations like the Amish women make. Amish women don’t just slop food in a pot and call it a meal.

A couple of years ago she said in the comments that the reason they had not fixed the plumbing was because that mobile home “wasn’t worth fixing”. I wonder if she still feels that way? Now she claims she likes living that way. I have to wonder if she is still hoping to move someday because nobody loves living with no plumbing.

Donkey started popping pills when he was having his frequent ER trips. The one where he made Falon wake up all the kids and made them sit in the vans for hours waiting for him. He wouldn't even let them wait for him in the hospital. Ass hat. He drinks and pops pills what a combo. When I saw her in her lavender “Amish” dress with black apron, I laughed out loud. She looks so silly cosplaying Amish.

I went back through my photos to see if I could find a picture of the little farrier wagon. Weirdly I didn't have one but I have all of my screenshots from the last year and a half still on my old phone. This picture of Titus is from the beginning of December last year. Looking through the photos his rapid decline of is extremely obvious. The whole family starts to kind of unravel in all the photos. Look at the difference of him in just a few months. I'm guessing pills or meth along with alcohol are involved. It's shocking.
