There is absolutely no escaping Johnny Depp and Amber Heard right now. Discovery plus is even doing a show on it. It's as bad as Will Smith and The slap. It's just too much crammed into your face constantly. Every single thing on social media is about it right now now it's here in the bakery too.

Just my two cents but this trial is important no matter whose side you're on. But, LOL, true crime is where in the Bakery I would expect to be able to talk about it. If it was over in Jen Ross' thread I'd get why that could get annoying. The Will Smith/Chris Rock issue was FAR less interesting to me, but I totally understand why it was a captivating story for some. If we all liked the same things the world would be boring.

I knew nothing about this case until shortly after the trial started. I think it's very interesting. I've formed my opinion so far based on certain facts that do have proof. Just because some aren't interested in something doesn't mean it should go away when others aren't interested. I am not interested in sports (college football when I was in college and for a while afterwards maybe). All i have to do is ignore sports whenever I want. Problem solved.

I think the Kardashians are beyond uninteresting. I am clearly in the minority. But live and let him if others enjoy katching up with them.

I get that, honestly, I am just tired of it being crammed down my throat. I do not mind if people find it interesting or vise versa I just get tired of being bombarded by it.

Me the same with the Kardashian extended family. I've sought out info on the Depp/Heard trial. I haven't seen it covered much in the media honestly. I see most of the content on Youtube. I missed the first week or so of the trial so I found the videos from inside the court. To me, the Kardashian news is much harder to avoid, LOL.

How could they ever prove that he murdered his mom at Sea like that?

I am so over the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case! I don't want to hear another word about it ever again the rest of my life. I don't care about rich people's problems. They were both horrible abusive toxic people to each other, one was worse than the other the end.

100% this. I am on neither side and I am so sick of seeing the case everywhere and the constant Johnny needs to be protected and/or is a hero posts.

    SOAP BOX WARNING:

Why do we have to pick sides at all? This is a civil case about domestic violence. I'm sick of people treating it like the Super Bowl. They aren't 100% good or evil, they're people. Their domestic dispute is none of my business, yet I'm getting news alerts on my phone about it. It's such a joke. I have had to go to family court a lot, and I would be mortified if people were live-streaming it, let alone posting videos with cartoon sound effects and funny captions. Johnny Depp's got one hell of a PR team putting in overtime to convince us all he's such an angel. I also find it interesting how all the same people were crying about #FreeBritney a few months ago and acting all mortified about how the media treated her and how the paparazzi's actions led to her losing her kids and her freedom. Yet here everyone is doing Amber Heard impressions and making fun of her testifying about abuse. You can think she's lying all you want, but she is still testifying under oath. I just think this is a bad road we are heading down as a society.

Well, excuse me. Please deign to tell me what's is acceptable for me to talk about. We're on a gossip site. There are bad people who do a lot of bad acts throughout their lives. There are liars. Get real. Choosing Amber Heard out of the countless real victims of domestic abuse is misguided. The MeToo movement should be to take all women seriously and investigate not believe evry single thing every woman says and never anything the accused man says.

Amber Heard: The lady is bad news. Quote from "Presumed Innocent" a 1990 film.

    Ellen is testifying for Amber?

I want to know this too. If supporting Amber Heard blindly is now necessary to prove my Liberal cred, no thank you. Seriously though, I think there are people from both sides of the political aisle who see through Amber or support her. E Jean Carroll (sp?) supports Amber 100% (she was a Trump rape accuser), which is disappointing.

I finally watched the opening arguments last night in their entirety. I hadn't seen them at all before. Amber is so freaking haughty. Even if she were telling the truth (not!) her demeanor when they panned to her during the opening arguments (when either side was giving them) made her look like a beautiful, but lethal, villain from a film noir.

I would have been a good juror because 1) I literally did not know who Amber Heard was and never saw any of her work,
    2) I've only seen two Johnny Depp movies and had a pretty neutral opinion of him (I heard about an actress shitting her movie star husband's bed but I didn't know who). I liked JD in the first Pirates movie (only one I saw) and one other film. I knew he dated Winona Ryder, Vanessa Paradis, and Kate Moss.

It became clear to me soon though that Amber was a liar and all-around bad person. So that put me on JD's side because she did essentially ruin his life. His bad for leaving Valerie for Heard but that's outweighed by the fresh hell that AH put him in.

Now she's showing her food on IG....I'm sure it tastes fine, but it does not look pretty. But then not much in Sophia's home looks pretty to me lol.

I sincerely give Sophia credit for having an adventurous palate but most of the time, no joke, my stomach heaves. I've often had the thought that I'd starve if I only had the stuff she eats. I'd try the celery root because the inside looks harmless but blecchh on so much of her stuff. Of course, I loathe mushrooms so that doesn't help. If she occasionally has something I don't mind she fries it up with fungi. The whole house reeks when mushrooms are fried.

She's mostly showing her food to get new anti-inflammatory diet followers.

Oh yes, we loved Galloping Gourmet, he was on PBS along with Julia Child, and that Justin guy? The Cajun cook or something like that? They were on Saturday afternoon, and I would watch with my mum.

In the U.S., in my state, the GG was on every weekday around noon. He used to say something to do with drinking wine every day that was like a catch phrase but I don't remember it. He became popular enough that I think, IIRC, that he got a show in the U.S. but I don't remember anything about that. Maybe it was on Saturdays?

That celery root thing had a nasty husk. Sophia has an adventurous palate. It reminded me of a show I haven't thought of in decades: The Galloping Gourmet with Graham Kerr (I may be a little off on the name). It was a Canadian show but we got it because CBC used to have a mega antenna that allowed states close to Canada to pick it up. Anywhoo, he often prepared and ate the most disgusting foods. My older brother and I thought he was funny though.

ETA: I just googled the show and here's a clip of him discussing the metric system. It's funny because he takes a book that had all references to English measurements like yard, inch, etc and converts them to metric as he's reading. Like instead of "Scotland Yard" it's "Scotland Meter" and instead of a character "inched into the room" he "centimetered into the room".

I noticed at the end of the video, in the car, Willie is wearing a mask.
Does he have a health condition?

He's a Democrat and the other three are Conservatives? I mostly kidding* but somewhat not.

    * I realize the issue is not as simple as this.

Honestly, I think Jen is much prettier than Tens. Comparing Jen at her worst to Tens at her best is not fair. Not that it matters. Just my opinion.

I do worry about Jen. Despite her questionable actions and decisions with which I disagree, she looks really unwell. I hope she relies on her network of family to pull herself out of this. Divorce is hard. An honest look at oneself is sometimes hard. But, one TRULY must go through the fire, at times, before the smoke clears and life looks bright, again.

I think Tens is prettier. Tens reminds me of Julia-Louis Dreyfus with a little Valerie Harper and Susan Lucci (back in the 1970s when they were younger) thrown in. She also clearly knows how to style herself to accentuate her best features. She looks like she doesn't have to "battle the bulge" whereas Jen very much does. Jen was pretty and sexy when young. She had a glow. She seems to have given up on being feminine. And personality-wise, Tens appears to have major joie de vivre and charismatic ways. Jen seems to lean into her social anxiety and depression. I wish she would go out and pursue some new interests and meet girl friends at least. She definitely could be good looking again if she tried.

Do we think Don feels bad or he’s completely moved on and has forgotten his past with her?!?

I think the money he sends here every month would quiet his guilt, not that he should probably have any, quite a bit.

There's two Cornells. Cornell College is in Iowa, my niece graduated from there.

Maybe she just confused her U's with her C's.

    lol

LOL. Because she came over her to NYC I assume she meant the Cornell in Ithaca, NY. You have to have a 4.3 (all As and some AP courses that give a 5 instead of a 4 or an A) and have SATs of 1500+. Or be a legacy or have your parents donate millions or be a student in an under-represented group. If Ed had gotten in he would have gone there. It's so prestigious. But Sophia inflating her academics is laughable. I assume she did well but she wasn't an elite scholar. Next time she goes through her papers she'll reference her congratulatory letter from the Nobel committee and how regrettably she couldn't accept it because of covid travel restrictions.

It's probably an online certification class. Tons of Ivy League colleges offer them so they get some money and the person gets to put a fancy name on their resume.

Like Tyra Banks hiding the fact that she bought her way into a Harvard course that met some weekends and issued a certificate of completion. I don't think Sophia would spend the fortune it would cost to get a certificate from Cornell. Unless Coursera has a Cornell course for $49/month.

ETA: I guess Cornell has this free course on sharks through EdX: https://www.edx.org/course/sharks-global-b...and-conservatio

Why does she "gotta keep" her application and acceptance letter to one of her colleges? I have a few sentimental papers from college and my diploma - plenty of proof that I attended and graduated!

Nothing wrong with the file cabinet system, unless you're doing things like keeping bank statements from 12 years ago.

That reminds me. No WAY did she get accepted into Cornell. What total BS!!
