IMO and based on the August 2015 Utah h&w video, Jen started wanting kids in 2013 (when Emily was pregnant with Grace.) Big surprise -Jen wasn’t the shiny new thing in the family anymore. Not saying she wanted them for the right reasons but between feeling she was supposed to and to grab back some of the attention Emily was getting, I do think she thought she wanted to. Jen seemed genuinely happy in her pregnancy announcement video to me (contrast with Announcement for pregnancy #2).
As far as having a second child I think the plan was to have 2 kids spaced 2-3 years apart and she was on autopilot. Yeah, she was tired and possibly had PPD but I think she was just on a part and thought it would be ok. The lynchpin of all this was Don was to be semi-retired and home actually raising the kids. I don’t think she would have minded the kids half as much if he “held up his part of the deal.”
Jen is a very stunted person. I don’t think we can judge her the same as a fully functioning adult, which she never has been. -

Gene made a big production of setting up a nursery for Grace in the Log Prison, didn’t she? Not because she liked the baby, or the idea of the baby, but it gave her the opportunity to be admired and doted on for being such a nice aunt. I am not sure if the fam was there, but I doubt it. Another excuse to be there alone, too.
I do not think I cared one way or the other about having kids, we never discussed it, when I got pregnant I told DH, he was happy, I was happy. And we also knew after he was born we were done. We would have been done if he had been a girl, we only wanted one after he came along. He was a good baby, we just knew one was enough for us.
I wonder what thoughts went through Big Berta Gene’s mind when she had to care for Charlotte 24/7, the rigid schedule she had to have, the 24/7 nursing, the daily weighings that had to be recorded. And after all that sacrifice, people were asking more about the baby than her. She was no longer the 5 year old, she was expected to be a mother and give all her attention to the baby. She may love her kids at times, but she seems to dislike them more than that. If she set up one of her cameras on a tripod in every room, filmed for 3 days straight, it would show what a poor parent she is, almost all the time.
If what others have speculated is true about the Russian, I wonder if she is reporting to the Ravens what she sees on Jens public IG? -

Jen was already a neurotic mess at one, and having a second just made it worse. Plus she finally delivered the heir so she probably got more snippy at Don and felt invincible since she birthed DKRIV. She probably thought she was a forever Ross. -

I don't think she ever considered raising and nurturing the needs of another human. She only thought as far as how pregnancy would impact HER and her body, and that's why she put it off so long. She had no desire to lose control of her body and likely never spent a moment thinking of parenting. -

I don’t know the solution to an issue like that but I do know it starts with admitting it
I remember reading a Reddit post years ago about a woman who hated being a mom and regretted her children so she signed full custody over to the dad and she visits
My main issue with Jen is that she DID know she didn’t want to be a mom, it’s why she put it off forever and essentially faked infertility (she didn’t *fake* but you know what I mean)
And then she had another kid AFTER CC even though she knew even more concretely she didn’t want kids

I think that she likely did think that one day in the future she would have them because that's what married couples do...but more and more years went by and the desire to have kids never came
at this point her and Don should have divorced since they already didn't have much in common and he did long for a family
but then she wouldn't have child support for 18 years -

She seems.... more deranged than usual. Is her mind completely gone, or is she just extremely manic and giddy from all the new toys and the delusion that she's going to be some artsy fartsy travel vlogger? -

At this point most people who I know IRL have more interesting social media feeds than Jen, who once claimed to be a professional content creator. -

this really sums it up nicely. whenever she does this I can’t quite place my finger on how it makes me feel and I think it’s a combination of angry and disturbed. she just goes through the motions of feeding, bathing, naps, then boots them out the door and goes on her little adventures. I wonder if Don still thinks she is the most selfless giving person ever
