I’ve always been willing to put on a tinfoil hat for this theory. As others have said, things that actually upset her get ruminated over for years. Moments on the calendar that actually bother her make her go dark (a certain wedding, perhaps?).
But with this, she had the “best day of her life” getting married the day before the anniversary, just a few short years later. She celebrated, traveled on long flights, and filmed it all for years. And (while I haven’t watched this latest video) she’s always vague about the experience. I was in college and working in south Jersey at the time, and even down here everyone can tell their specific story - coincidentally, I was (also??) absent from class that day. Everyone I know that was up there tells theirs, too.
Yes, that was her freshman year at NYU. But maybe she wasn’t actually there at the time. Maybe she got through her first week of classes, and since it’s always been A Week for poor Jenbo, maybe she had to take a self-care break already. Maybe her being absent from the trauma her classmates faced is part of why she couldn’t make any friends and had to get out of there.
Just thoughts. We’ll never know unless her unlucky roommate stumbles across us someday.
(Also she wasn’t technically away from family when she was there, her grandparents lived nearby) |
