Amazing thread title!!
It's absolutely the spandex % that allows her to wear a 27 which is probably why she only wears those shorts now. They make her feel smaller even though in reality they make her look huge.
I'm usually a 29 at most stores, but bought a pair of jeans from Loft recently (totally influced by Michele) and she was saying how they were so stretchy that she sized down TWO! sizes. I followed suit and sure enough, my size 29 ass is wearing a 27 in those jeans. The only difference is that I know I'm not actually a 27 - it's a combination of shit tons of spandex and vanity sizing at work.
