So I’m a furloughed hospital worker — I know, it doesn’t really make sense to me either. Because of this, I consider my job to be to keep everything at home running smoothly. I’m making all the meals, doing the cleaning, keeping everyone on schedule. It only makes sense since I’m home now. My daughter is finishing up her freshman year at college and my husband is working from home. My special needs son is helping me around the house and doing his own thing as well. Jen barely cooks for her kids, doesn’t teach them how to pick up after themselves, makes no special effort for activities with them (growing vegetable seeds would be awesome at their age—hell, at any age) and is only concerned about herself getting exercise. She could do so much and I get so irritated at her insistence that she needs to continue to be gentle with herself. It just doesn’t make sense.
