I had friends who worked with me in the UK, who were from Belgium originally. I went to their country, stayed at their parents house 20 years ago. They came to the US to visit me after I got married and we are all still in touch and talk often. I guess the answer is yes!

Wait wait wait, who said anything about following? People can't visit each other for holidays or family functions? We spend some holidays with old family friends sometimes and that involves flying halfway across the US.
