Delta that self preservation description is 100 percent Jen. I think all of her leaning into being gentle with herself is about an over coddled learned behavior on her part. She has no self awareness that the majority of women don’t have the means or lifestyle to lean into being gentle with themselves and in many ways it is the toughening up in life that helps us gain character and perspective. Her solitary focus on being gentle with herself and giving herself grace is actually crippling her. If it ended up that she didn’t have Don’s money and was a divorced mom who had to move to a smaller apartment and had to fight her way back into the workplace like many divorced women have to do it would be more beneficial to her.
