On the handbag video: Absolutely awful. The vegan plastic bags were dull and the $400 Teddy Blake bag with the wonky shoulder strap? No thank you. These are good enough for us but Louis Vuitton for her. Sigh.
On the Bridgerton video: I watched only to the 50 second mark. She hasn’t watched the show!! It’s the height of ridiculousness. The nerve to make a 12 minute video about the costumes in a show you haven’t seen by just reading what others have written about it!. -

Given her obsession with the Royals and boring old Princess Kate, she'd probably be offended by the multiracial cast and natural hairstyles featured. She strikes me as the type of person who would be upset the show isn't historically accurate, and would prefer some Keira Knightley period drama to something actually interesting and fresh.
Oh, and I guess the sex would also offend her.. -

I agree with those who said that Jen was likely a total pill while staying with the Madame Chic family. Madame Chic had her pegged from Day One. It's absolutely true that if you love a place so much, you'll find a way to go back. She and Ben could have easily have taken the Eurostar from London to Paris many times. (My hubby and I did it and it was super easy). Didn't the family stay in Portugal at one point? France isn't that far away!
Also, I seem to recall reading in her first book, maybe? or a blog post of hers that the Chic family weren't even there for Jen's last day in Paris. They buggered off to their country house! LOL Au revoir!. -

She was never chic, if I'm honest. Obviously that's subjective, but her blog and books have always had an old-fashioned vibe to them. Very granny looking down her glasses at you and judging you mentality in a lot of her writing.
It was secretly always about British stuffiness and being a "proper lady", in my opinion. I found the first book too focused on manners and decorum rather than practical tips. Obviously those are important but there is more to life than which cheek to kiss first or how to style a handkerchief. Her 10-item wardrobe section was useless, literally "buy cashmere and wear an apron to protect it.". -

She’s not aging well. Look how thin and flat her hair looks now. Wow. Her home life stress is taking a toll.
The thing with her French chic theme is that’s all it was- a theme. Each lesson was a blog post at one point and she realized how popular those posts were on her blog that wasn’t specifically French chic themed. So she took those posts and compiled them into a book to sell and it caught on because the French women don’t get fat and Francophile books were popular at that time. It was solely a money making thing for her and since it caught on and a publisher reached out and gave her more book deals she tried to maintain the French chic persona but that’s not who she is and never was.
Everything she does is driven by $. If Madam Chic really exists she must think Jennifer is so tacky. She’d have to hear about the books at some point and for her to never reach out means she’s disgusted or non-existent.. -

There was a great review on Amazon of her first MC book amidst all the glowing reviews. Reviewer was male IIRC, and called her pretentious. I forget the details but he was right on and his vibe was of a bon vivant who’s well-traveled and genuinely sophisticated. . -

NancyDrew, I found that review! I have to say, the Amazon page for the first Madame Chic book is quite cringe inducing. It includes a little preview of JLS saying that everyone in France has a dinner that's a *minimum* of three courses and that she never, ever saw anyone in Paris eating or drinking outside of the home or a restaurant. Really, Jennifer? You never saw anyone with a coffee on their way to work?
Some of the reviews say that the pretentiousness in the book is a good thing, because Americans are so lazy and disgusting with their comfy sweatpants and snacks so they need to be shamed. I much prefer the book "French Women Don't Get Fat" because at least in that book the author doesn't shame anyone for eating, but rather gives them tips and encouragement. Seems Jennifer prefers the passive-aggressive shaming route.
Also waiting for her Superbowl video. Or does she only shame female performers?.
