I'd make that big empty room my comfortable and decorated lounge for evening and for hosting guests post Covid. The fireplace room would be more informal for the kids during the day so I could keep an eye on them from the kitchen and keep kid clutter contained. It's like she has never seen a normal house before, and she went to great lengths to make stupid changes to RM1 to do similar with the front room there. You need a presentable space from the front door entry not scooters and a sad empty room. . -

I guess when you are nearly 40 and have no one in your life to say something nice about you, you need a sticker to tell you "you are the bestest".
