That makes no sense. You pay a cleaning fee. There isn't a staff employed by hotel that you want to show appreciation to. I pick up any mess we made and leave it at that. We haven't stayed at a lot of them, but the last one we were in they asked us to remove the bedding and place them on top of the bed. They also asked us to put the dirty towels into the bath tub.
