QUOTE (Idiot savant @ 1/10/2022, 11:41 PM) I’m sorry, I really am. But do any of you who question her alimony actually know wealthy people? This argument is tired and irrelevant. Jen got a multi million dollar settlement in addition to a substantial part of Don’s social security. She also is entitled to the alimony that was not only set by the state, but most likely increased by Don to get keep her happy. Child support will end, yes. But she has more than enough resources to keep her as a kept woman for years, possibly the rest of her life if she invests well, which she will probably do. This argument is ridiculous. Agreed. She doesn't do youtube for money. She'll never need to, unless some male gold digger manages to hook her and escape with her money or squander it. I mean, I'm here for it if that happens.
Can I ask how she is entitled to Don's SS? I would think that now would go to Tensleigh? So at 65 or older he has to hand over a portion of his SS to his wife he divorced almost 30 years prior?

They were married for 10 years so she can get the same SS as his if she isn't remarried at the time when he dies and Tens can get it too. It doesn't impact how much he gets.
If you’re divorced and were married at least 10 years, you’re eligible for some of your ex’s Social Security Divorced women married at least 10 years are eligible for Social Security on the ex- husband’s record if they are unmarried at the time they become eligible for Social Security. Some women sign divorce decrees relinquishing their rights to Social Security on their ex-husband’s record. If you were married at least 10 years, those clauses in divorce decrees are worthless and are never enforced. Any benefits paid to a divorced spouse DO NOT reduce payments made to the ex or any payments due the ex’s current spouse if he remarried. Generally, the same payment rules apply to divorced wives and widows as to current wives and widows. That means most divorced women collect their own Social Security while the ex is alive, but can apply for higher widow’s rates when he dies.

Unfortunately my SS is more than my current husband's because I am sitting here thinking of ways to murder him since he called me an hour ago and said he thinks he has Covid.
I am so careful. Double mask and only go out if absolutely necessary and he frigging went out to breakfast once, lunch twice and for drinks last week.
And when he called I had my grandson in the car with me that hasn't had the booster and is starting a new job today after being out of work for 3 mos.
Lord help me 'cause momma is pissed.

QUOTE (JenuinelyUnorganized @ 10/1/2022, 23:55) She can not get any part of his SS, they were not married long enough. As to a multi million dollar settlement, are you privy to that information. I bet Don settled something on her, the alimony will stop in 6 or 7 years by Illinois law, and I doubt he added to it. He was done with her and IMO he was not going to give her more than he had to. Maybe she did get more, maybe she did not, but unless and until the decree become public, no one will know.
I found the perfect get rich scheme for Gene. They were married for more than ten years, the house was paid off and they had savings. The assets were split.

QUOTE (Breakdown @ 10/1/2022, 19:14) QUOTE (VeganGingerbread @ 1/10/2022, 12:14 PM) It's also very on-brand for Jen - that she would buy some new gadget to count out the intervals for her, rather than relying on a a watch or device she already owns. I was thinking the same thing. But part of the fun in running a race is being around other people (obviously not true for Party of One Like Jen). Wearing earbuds or headphones would take away from the experience IMHO. Whatever she was listening to with regard to intervals she could have used her watch for, like you say. I hate how everything about her bugs me, even this. Yeah I’m sure she was wearing some fancy noise canceling headphones for all of it. You shouldn’t be running at disney if you want silence. Totally wipes out a large portion of the experience. There are better ways. I can’t run that long without my music “of choice.” But I use aftershokz bone conduction headphones so you can still hear everything around you. They’re a good choice for safety reasons too. Before that I used wired beats earbuds and only put one side in. I tucked the other one into my ponytail or my hat. A weird look for sure, but it got the job done 😂

I don't really know how divorce laws work, but I've never had any doubt that Jen is set very comfortably for life for all the reasons mentioned above. I do WONDER, though, if Don could legally get her alimony reduced, because she has not made a genuine effort to earn an income. Does anyone know if this is the case? I doubt that Don would actually go to the trouble, but I am curious if it's a possibility.
