Being a stay at home parent who has 3-4 days with no kids, a paid for house and a nice financial status. The horror. Most parents would like that for a few weeks as a fucking holiday/vacation.

She’s confusing her marital status with her parental status. She thinks because she’s not in a relationship that she’s “single” and because she has kids she’s a “parent” so she’s a “single parent.” That’s…not how this works. At all. Dummy.
The entire spiel is tone deaf & an insult to real single moms. The part that stood out to me though is when she told the bakery, “it is not my garbage to carry, but the ugly deflections of a few people who do not know how to deal with their own pain.” Bitch, what pain? We’re educating you on the difference between a co-parent and a single mother so that you don’t sound like the ignorant & dramatic asshole you are.

I divorced my first husband when my oldest was 5. We shared custody. NEVER ONCE did I call myself a single mother. Yes, I was single, and yes I was (and always will be) a mother. But I was a co-parent. I have friends who are single mothers. That's a life I have never known, and I am grateful, because that's rough!! No help from Dad. All on their own. Mom praying she can eek out enough to pay the bills, daycare, MAYBE having enough to put in savings that month...That's single mom life. That wasn't my life. That sure as hell isn't yours. The term divorced mom is nothing to be ashamed of, but that's what it sounds like you're implying. How's that for an icky taste?
