lots of parents do both - gifts from santa and gifts from parents. i've noticed that some parents today do the smaller gifts / stocking stuffers from santa, and the bigger gifts from the parents. that way the kids at school who don't get much from santa don't feel left out or sad, which i think is sweet. whether that's what jen is doing is unlikely, i'm just seeing it more and more.
my boss just got back from new york city - she went with her boyfriend, so it was way less sad. CC would have probably loved this trip.
