Stocking up when things are on sale when you budget weekly is a bit more difficult.
But I got a new plan which is to budget for 3 months at a time.
The plan is to not hold any food product for more than 3 months. I'm starting this in May.
I decided on this approach cause things happen like I end up buying a smaller container or cooking oil to stay on budget etc etc.
Doing it 3 monthly also has the advantage that if something needs to be flash frozen, that requires additional freezer space, so I can do a batch of flash freezing before stocking up the freezer. Sausage rolls and scones.
From what I can tell Jane and Mike I think eat rather well. I think their portions are maybe large but they work outside a lot from what I can tell.
But them harping on about a cost of living crisis when it was their choice to give up full time jobs etc is kinda disengenious.
Also its all good that they installed thier own kitchen cabinets, but there are all of those strange gaps.
I will paint my walls, but I won't do my own skim coating.

No. The only thing that happened was they had a storm... they went without power for about 8 days... But, their neighbors also lost power... Jane acted like it was some dramatic movie.. it was sickening. She keeps mentioning the storm.. how dangerous it was.. Um, every storm is potentially dangerous.. Trees fall, there are power lines that go down.. in rural areas sometimes it takes longer to get things back up and running, but there have been worse storms. It's flipping part of life. Then there was the time Jane lashed out at people on Facebook for asking questions about her canning process because they wanted to copy her... I watched in real time Jane attack an elderly lady and block her.. so I stepped in and helped the lady.. all the lady wanted to know is if she should have the jars completely submerged or the water up to the neck of the jar. Jane acted like a real BITCH for absolutely nothing. That lady was so upset she unsubscribed from Jane's channel.

Jane... Stop repeating yourself every 30 seconds. 1. Layers and one thing at a time are not going to help someone having a really rough time. 2. Not everyone can wash their own vehicles with a sponge and bucket. Some of your viewers don't own a vehicle. 3. Not everyone has the luxury of waiting weeks to buy something second hand or has the time to keep going back every week to check on something. That's wasting a lot of time. 4. It's okay to have an idea about the future with a money cushion, but Jane, sorry, no one knows what the future holds for anyone. If you try to regimently plan for something you literally cannot forsee, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. 5. Again, stop repeating yourself ( You're repeating "Frugal Mindset" ) so much people are losing interest. Just like your hammering on about checking your bank balance before breathing or using the facilities.

Another 100 subscribers added. I hope Jane realizes that adding fake subscribers doesn't make views go up. Anyone can look at stats and tell they're not real subscribers..
Jane's intro sounds really fake when she says "Welcome back to the channel and if you're here for the very first time you're so very welcome" because: 1: When you know she's purchasing subscribers, then it sounds insane to fake welcome subscribers that don't exist.. 2: When you are treated like shit by jane for asking questions, you wonder when her temper will return..

Jane is now saying that 6 months of the year she has made no spend months in order to mitigate the cost increases etc etc.
But interest rates on savings have increased as well.
After all was said and done with buying this place in France and selling up in England surely she's got more than just this pension to fall back on.
6 months of no spend sounds pretty shit. I was gonna do 3 months of no spend, but now I realize its not realistic, there is always some itty bitty thing that needs attending, threadbare clothes, chipped plates, worn out socks.
But then I suppose her sinking funds are not counted in this no spend thing she is on about, so she can still tap into her clothing fund to buy clothes if need be etc etc.
When she reviewed one of those solar generators she said that they purchased one themselves, this is an expensive thing. I don't remember anything about how that was cash flowed.
I almost want one, just because sooner or later a big earthquake could very well strike here.
She used her battery thing to run her washing machine, use her air fryer and her kettle etc etc.
Unfortunately the only way I could really justify investing in this thing is if I was to move into some old dump that needs the electrics completely rewired, then I'd just run stuff off the generator thing rather.
I did see an old church on the west coast incredibly cheap, but so cheap you sure couldn't justify rewiring it.
I dunno though this sorta retirement seems kinda dismal.

When it comes to the solar generators, 1 review is not enough to justify a spending that much money, especially from a YT channel. I don't believe anything Jane says. FYI, there was an incident with Homestead Tessie . She also reviewed a solar generator. Tessie just talked about how much she loved it so much.. so over the top. One of her elderly subscribers purchased one through Tessie's link and it turned out not to be all that Tessie said it was. The lady tried telling Tessie in the comment section and asked for help and Tessie's response was "I didn't tell you to buy it, you chose to" and threw Tessie under the bus and wouldn't help the lady. I saw that in real time.
Jane, Tessie and Prepper Princess got theirs for free.. they're not out any money or suffered a loss like that lady did with Tessie. Jane, Tessie and PP are all making money from their links. They do not have anyone's best interest at heart.

Jene's "Grow Food To Save Money" is ridiculous. Jane hammers on and on and on and on about checking the bank balance every 5 minutes because she doesn't want anyone else spending money on even a coffee, but she does and buys plants at the garden center instead of starting seeds. Jane claims to know everything, so why can't she start seeds?
It looks like Jane's advice only applies to everyone but herself..

How many tasks, or hoops does Jane want people to jump through before they can actually get to saving money? Between checking your bank balance after every breath, checking your money saving apps every 5 minutes and writing out every penny you spend, then checking your bank balance once again, where does actual saving fit in?
