Your “ride or die” friends don’t happen in a minute. Those are the friendships that have taken years to develop to become ride or die. The friends that I have that are like that have been my friends for decades. I would do anything for them (and it’s not a huge number, just a few). I also don’t talk to them for weeks at a time. But the minute we do talk again we pick up like no time has passed. New friends aren’t going to be that way and if this is what she expects friends to be like, no wonder she can’t make friends.
When you don’t talk to real people and engage in similar interests you aren’t going to find people to be friends with. But know that you are setting a horrible example for your children.
And she was an awful dog parent to Winnie. She didn’t deserve the treatment she got.
