.1. Does she not give the kids a snack when they get home? Does she even know this is a thing? Of course she doesn't because she is using her own disordered eating schedule when thinking about when to feed the kids. They should be having a little snack when they get home, she has all the time in the world to be creative with it. Instead they eat dinner super early.
So they eat dinner at 4:30/4:45 according to Gene. I have no doubt she is pushing it back slightly and it’s really more like 4:15/4:30 based on what she’s showing. She never mentions a snack in their extensive bedtime routine. So they don’t eat again until breakfast. Let’s see you go that long without stuffing your face Gene.
Yeah, this is strange to me too. What about playing outside and having a snack time, homework time (working on your reading log or memorizing multiplication stuff). What about family art time/or chilling out together? What about chores and cooking together? Nevermind extra curricular activities like dance, sports, etc.? I don’t think it is possible for a modern family to have dinner at a set time perfectly every single day. 4:30/4:45 is way too early. I think the modern family is winning if they can get their kids fed by 6:30, bathed, played with, read to, sung to, watered, last minute bathroom break, and tucked in by 9. Meanwhile, Gene has an 8:00 pm bedtime in place for those children. The math ain’t mathing!
So many red flags! I can’t help but worry that at some point, Donnie or Cece might want to try singing lessons, basketball, or some other activity, but Gene will reply “ I am sorry soccer practice is at 4:30— we have dinner at 4:30 every night no exceptions, you can’t play.”. -
