I think Jen does want friends…but only the way she envisions friendship. She needs someone she can whine to about how hard her life is with the Circumstances, how much trauma she endured for years with her cager, the fires she’s forced to walk through, and the curveballs—oh, the CURVEBALLS! The minute the friend wants to talk about something other than Jen, it’s “TFS! Gotta run!”
This is why her _withwonder_ community is so vital to her existence. It’s the superficial Jen-focused, ass-kissing, one-sided friendships she always wanted. No reciprocation needed.
