.Jen laughs so much, when there’s literally nothing even remotely funny. Even around her kids. Very strange.
She has completely forgotten how to begin a video. Every time she does one now, she begins with some awkward laughing. Laughing at her appearance, laughing at her fatigue, laughing at something. She never used to do that. She’d jump right into the topic at hand, looking very put together and her opening words well thought out. Somewhere along the way, hyena Jen took over.. -

.It’s never, like, actual laughter. It’s like, get out phone, start filming, look at self in mirror while pretending not recording, then make eye contact with self in phone screen, then a weird dissolve into grimace “chuckles” (it’s not laughter and not giggles, chuckles is the closest thing I can think of, and it’s not that either) while scrunching nose and shaking head. And if the sound is on, we have a 50/50 chance at hearing “I don’t know, you guys.”
Watching her interact with her own children always looks to me like she’s an aunt or a family friend, babysitting as a favor. Or, like, their “caretaker”, not their mother. If I didn’t know they were her kids, I wouldn’t be able to figure that out based on how she interacts with them. I can’t put my finger on why. I’m not a super lovey dovey kind of mom, so it’s not like I expect that out of her. She just looks so detached and awkward, while desperately trying to come across as attached and natural. It’s weird.
Just to piggyback on that, I find it also weird that she’s never raised her voice at all to them. Or corrected a behaviour in a firm voice. It’s always saccharine sweet. It’s just not real. No part of her interactions with them appear authentic or real. It is really strange.. -
.Did y’all notice that when she shows her advent there is a third - it says coffee advent on bottom right but I can’t make out the website below it. I don’t remember her telling about that one like for real??? Three advents for yourself????

.Today’s video on the rewatch thread is so much better. She drives around the neighbourhood showing Christmas lights. Why can’t she do that with the kids? All the joyful things she did over the years were JustForJen. Jen does not share anything. Not even joy. Not even with her children.
Those kids are banished to bed looooooong before its dark enough to look at lights. -

I’m sure there is yelling and show of frustration when the camera is not around. That is the reason why the interactions look so fake on camera. Those are not the real reactions. The real ones are when the camera is off. The reason why CC behaves so badly on camera. She knows mama is not going to reprimand her. . -

Even if Jen doesn't raise her voice, and I think she definitely does, she can still make her kids scared and uncomfortable with her behaviour.
I think the kids know already that mummy likes things a certain way and I bet she makes them feel really bad when they don't follow her exact orders.
Jen strikes me as one of those creepy, insidious people who always look like they are about to lose it if you don't do and be exactly as she expects you to, so you always walk on eggshells around her. It's one of the many reasons she doesn't have any friends, IMO.
I bet the kids walk on eggshells, wondering what will set mummy off at any minute.. -

She uses a stern voice many times and also sighs a lot, which is really sad to hear. Those kids know that they are an annoyance to her & she's hanging on by a thread. . -

I don’t think the marriage would have survived even without children. Jen would have been happy, but I think Don was ready to be a real adult with real children...not just a forever-5-year-old child bride. The marriage wouldn’t have lasted either way. It’s just a shame two innocent children have to suffer because their mama gave birth to 5-star meal tickets instead of admitting motherhood required sacrifices she wasn’t willing to make. . -

I believe she thinks it makes her look modest. Like "omg, you guys, I know, I'm just so silly, and I just hate filming myself, but everyone seems to want me to. I feel so awkward filming myself! tee hee"
