Also, if anyone is a book girly - have you read Yellowface? You have to read our own novelist K8’s review on Goodreads. I about died.
To sum it up, the book is about a white author that witnesses her successful friend’s accidental death and proceeds to steal her unpublished, unseen draft of a novel. And her friend was Asian and wrote a book about Chinese history. So the white author receives her fair share of backlash. Kate “deeply resonated” with the book as someone who also receives criticism on the internet. Cringe. |

But we allllll know that Kate is out here putting #ad in white font on a white background trying to hide her paid promotions - and we all know it's because people are less likely to purchase a product if they think she was paid to shill it and the recommendation didn't come out of her own genuine heart.
Exactly. It’s funny to read her response when I KNOW there are screenshots of her hiding her as disclosures. I also feel like commissionable links are shady, because even if she doesn’t really like a product, she can still post the link and make money. And consumers are just supposed to trust these influencers I think if influencers are making money from a product a consumer purchases, it needs to be upfront and clear PERIOD. |

| | Is anyone here following #lashgate? How Makayla N from tik tok had a paid promotion for a mascara and clearly put on fake lashes for the after picture, claiming it was the mascara? I asked K8 what he thoughts were about lashgate but of course, no response. It’s bringing forward a conversation about deceptive advertising by influencers. So many influencers in the beauty community are doing shady stuff (including our own k8) like hiding #ad in white lettering on a white background or putting it somewhere tiny we can’t see. I know a lot of us are ready for this influencer bubble to pop and this might be a step in that direction. |

| | What bothers me the most about our *lovely* k8 is how she talks to her followers. She almost scolds people for asking questions without going on a search party through her blog or LTK page. It’s literally your JOB (that you have to have yearly summits about barf) to answer follower questions. If you don’t want to interact other than receiving complements, why are you even an influencer? Get over yourself k8. |

She was hesitant to do anything for preeclampsia even though she very clearly had it. And didn’t want to be monitored regularly before or during labor. Also talked about whether they wanted baby’s vaccines after birth. Girl, you had fentanyl in labor! I’m sure the eye drops won’t do any more damage than that |
