Drug use, especially at a younger age can literally rewire and damage the brain. And that damage can be permanent. Just like babies who are born addicted due to a drug addicted mother. It doesn't happen to EVERY baby but it does happen to many of them. They wind up with neurological disorders and even physical disabilities. It can happen to older children/teens and young adults as well. Niki does show some indications of trying to do better. She works and it's not easy. She has to walk, get a ride or take the bus but she does it. Plenty of people would just sit around and live off public assistance. Others game the unemployment system. Sadly, her life revolves around addiction. Methadone, nicotine, marijuana, caffeine ... those are all substances that she is addicted to. I wonder what she could become if she could rid herself of ALL addictions (including Darryl).
This is what keeps me watching despite the fact that she is largely unlikeable, a bad parent, and Daryl is just disgusting.
The vlog where she’s tired after her night shift, disheveled, the sun is just coming up, she needs to pee (and does…in the bushes bc the mall isn’t open!), and can’t find the bus stop, makes me keep pulling for her. She keeps persisting, finds the stop after having to double back and having walked much farther than she needed to, and makes it home. Most people would have been in tears or have blown money they didn’t have on an Uber. Nikki keeps on marching, cheerfully btching and complaining the whole way.
She works a thankless gas station night job, when she’s used to stripper money (which isn’t as good as what she pretends, but is certainly much faster money than minimum wage). It is highly unusual to go straight after sex work because of the lure of fast “easy” money.
It’s hard when she’s such a disaster and clearly not doing right by her kid, but she really is making recognizable efforts to pull herself out of some of her mess. |

Haven’t watched yet but I’m not sure she should be bragging about none of her children being in daycare. All of them have been removed from her care except DJ!
I’ve got a few theories as to why she would keep him out:
-Daycare providers would notice issues like bruises, acting out, or consistently dirty clothing. And they are mandated reporters.
-Since Nikki works until early morning, it would fall to Darryl to get DJ up, cleaned, dressed, and ready to go to daycare. Not happening.
-Nikki may also realize that having DJ around all day does put some constraint on Darryl’s ability to go out and cheat on her while she’s sleeping during the day for her night shift.
I agree daycare would be the best thing for DJ. His dad is teaching him that hitting people the face is a fun game. I don’t wish a kid who is the product of that on any daycare but it’s the only chance for correction and normalcy before he enters kindergarten where it will be too late. |

| I’m guessing it’s her DIL from a previous relationship’s house. No relation to Bones and has two young children herself. IIRC she is divorced/separated and has been arrested for DWI. However, that crew does seem to be a step up from Bones’s circle.

| I think Kisha may be older than Nikki as well, so has a little more life experience, for what it’s worth. Kisha is around 46, not sure about Nikki.
Kisha is smart enough to hide more than Nikki does, but she seems to manage to understand that you shouldn’t constantly swear around your child or think that hitting you in the face is a fun game to teach your toddler.
Kisha also clearly smokes cigarettes and natural tobacco in the house but knows enough not to show it on camera. And it does seem like she will make a token effort to smoke outside if the weather is decent. Still completely unacceptable around a child, but Kisha makes a token effort unlike Nikki who seems to not even know to care.
Kisha knows she should take AJ to speech class but it’s too much of a pain in the a*s, but unlike Nikki, does seem to have some sort of structure and normalcy like putting meals on plates at a table.
Someone upthread said so accurately that Nikki just screeches in her kid’s general direction. Kisha seems to have more of an environment of benign neglect.

I’m absolutely a jealous hater when it comes to Jen. It’s possible that I’m even more jealous of current Jen. She doesn’t have to put out for pompous Don anymore; has two smart, healthy children who would be thrilled with her love and attention; is in prime health (other than the bunions); and has nothing but free time and piles of money. Even the specter of the permanent one-up that is Tens doesn’t matter if she doesn’t let it.
If I woke up tomorrow and learned I had her life I honestly can’t even fathom how I’d comprehend my good fortune (well, it wouldn’t be by hopping on the peloton for the next four hours, that’s for sure!).

She had her the entire Bakery, Ryan’s wife, and her own best friend throwing out the facts in black and white and begging her to leave after the miscarriage and she persisted.
Kisha was completely aware of Ryan’s problems, went running deliberately toward them, and knowingly brought a child into it. |

Even if Tens was in CC’s ear (how did CC even know there was a dress up night? It doesn’t seem like Jen would have encouraged it), you rally. Heck, even if your bunions hurt and you want to wear sneakers with your dress, that’s fine! Bring some fun jewelry and hair accessories that you and your kids can choose from on dress-up night and have fun getting ready together. Jen sucks the fun out of everything. |

I’ve been watching the makeup organization and purges and I estimate she’s decluttered almost $10k worth of makeup and brushes. (Excluding what she got in PR, which was really only Sigma and a few boutique brands.) |

| I think in one of the Run Disney packing videos where she is putting together her five million “Disney bounding” race outfits with unique ears for each one, she says something along the lines of “oh, CC might like this brand - the band is a little thinner” so I think CC might not like the feel of ears.
I don’t think it’s going to be long before sassy extrovert CC and Jen’s relationship is going to be overtly strained. Donny is definitely the favorite (and seems more like how Jen perceives her own self - a little more quiet and hesitant). I really hope their mother’s favoritism doesn’t drive CC and Donny apart. Their parents dropped those children in ALOT of chaos at a very young age and I hope CC and Donny realize their best chance at strong and healthy familial bonds is starting with each other.
ETA - Just read @powderoomcandy’s post about Disney selling baseball caps with ears. Jen is such a dck.
