"mid canada" shut up, you moron.

Yeah, I wanted to comment on that. Banff is definitely NOT mid-Canada.

    Travelimg expert my Canadian butt.

Also, she has so much innecessary shit, itust stink so bad. 4 pairs of shoes, including hiked-in shoes and sandals, random 5 gallon of water, numerous bottles of water, random foods.

And her switch blade in the door makes me laugh. Wjat is she going to do with that? In a self-defense situation, that's actually not a good weapon. And ber hiking kit is dumb - a poop shovel but no medic kit and no signalling stuff? Also, which long hikes?

She mostly goes to camping sites that provide drinkable water, her insistance on filterong her water and getting all sorts of rumpus equipe.ent like the adventure gals is ridiculous.

I managed to get through the article and this writer is really something. If I understand correctly, for him Harry's story was just an inspiration for the picture he wanted to paint and Harry liked it, because he himself came across like 'intellectual'. The writer also mentioned how Harry is frustrated that everyone doubts in his intellectual abilities.

Like Harry, he wants to be 'private' and 'famous' at the same time. For example - Agassi (whose biography he also wrote) offered him for his name to be written on the cover. The writer declined. But then, when he was watching the interview, he was insulted, because Agassi didn't mentioned him. Than he was talking that he has always a clause about his anonymity, but in this article he was so happy to talk about himself so much. He mentioned a few times, how 'someone from Montecito' leaked his name and the book, that I begin to suspect, that he did it himself or together with Meghan. And he didn't trust Harry to know things about himself and his life, he rather went and found someone, who 'really knows him'. Most likely that was Meghan. He was angry with Harry, because sometimes Harry didn't want to subdue to him.

I don't know. It was bizarre and unpleasant. He is nitpicking when criticizing the press and he is even worse than Harry. I don't know what was the intention of this article. A weird self-promotion?

It's true that is is bizarre to talk so much about himself [the ghostwriter], when I am sure everyone had already forgotten he existed.

It does sound like it was in Meghan and Harry's interest to have some scandal around the book, and an early leak was perfect to drum up interest.

So I guess this ghostwriter kinda has too much ego to be happy as a true ghostwriter that diasappears after the contract. That, or he was paid to put out this piece and make H & m look good.

    QUOTE (Gladys Kravitz I @ 8/5/2023, 22:55)

Can't say for this article in particular, but the original from The NewYorker is actually very favorable to Harry - the ghostwriter talks about what it means to be a ghostwriter, and how it was working with Harry (not easy, but no more than any other ghostwriting job) and that the worst was the media circus around it.

Apparently, most of the leaked parts of the books had been mistranslated (from the Spanish to English, nothing bad is said about the Spanish version) and that the worst parts (mounted like a stallion, etc. ) had not been the original writing.

He speaks of Meghan as being pleasant, Harry as being a likeable guy, and against the don't speak, don't complain of the Royal family, as something that doesn't help people process grief when applied in private.

The one thing I will say, is that there is a difference between talking it out in the family and airing it out for all to see, and I don't think it's in the ghostwriter's interest to make that distinction, as someone who ghostwrites memoirs for a living, which would be why he doesn't do it.

He does spek about having trouble with Harry, but I'd say it has been way exagerated.

When all is said and done, this was a bizarre circus and I can’t believe we still do these ridiculous, antiquated things in the 21st century and taxpayers fork the bill, especially during the worse cost of living crisis in Europe right now.

It is heartening to see in a latest poll, that the majority of people between 18-24 years old don’t want the monarchy anymore.

Where I live, monarchy is also very unpopular - the only thing stopping most people here is actually the process of removing that and reorganizing everything into a republic, I think.

Nobody wants to start taht considering it would mean a few years of trial and errors when we are already pretty much removed from monarchy.

They already are in the process of removing a lot of the monarchy's presence and symbolism (what little was left of it) from most daily politics and so far, they actually don't know if they will put Charles face anywhere on the money. On the day of the coronation, there was very little about it on the news, but there was a will they wont they about the face on the money. Still undecided.

Charles really isn't popular, and the only reason people aren't doing anything is that monarchy here is really kept low. I think the moment it'll be too annoying or embarrassing is when people will actually start the whole process of dismantling it. Or when they'll see Charles' face on the 20 $ bill and go "who's that"?

On a marketing viewpoint, it probably would have looked better if William had been king - looking young and having less scandal might have helped. But overall, monarchy is on it's last leg - the whole "magically chosen by God to reign power passed down by blood and birthright" doesn't really do the trick anymore.

ETA : they announce today Charles face is going to be on the money. Too bad, they were talking about OTHER things we could put on instead and I was looking forward to snowowls and the like the way they do in Europe :(

Yeah, she likes being by herself, accountable to no one, but cared for by someone else. That's not being independant.

That book title is gross and demeaning.

Especially in that case, when the author didn't do anything worthwhile either, like humanitarian work, wildlife rescue, etc. - just perpetual vacation, and shoving her head up her own butt à la Jen.

Self discovery and dedicating your life to worshipping yourself aren't the same thing.

Poor Winnie has a suspected spine fracture + no use of hind legs. Just sit her in a bag on those painful paralyzed legs . She’s probably using her front paws to pull herself up and take the pressure off her lower half.

What angers me is also the fact that they do make special dog carriers that function as a backpack or a crossbody.

She thinks nothing of buying specialized equipment for camping/hiking once, but she can't fork out some money to not torture her own dog by taking her out into a proper pet carrier.

I'm a bit behind but I need to say it :

On her days at the park, she shows how she packs a reusable bag in her backpack, yet she comes back to her hotel after her shopping spree with plastic bags for all of her purchases. It's maddening!

She also shied away in the first video from calling her pouch a walking pharmacy, calling it "bits and bobs"... then later (or in the other video) she calls it a walking pharmacy, but sounds kinda embarrassed.

Also, brings a backpack, yet already has an Expo designated backpack in her owner's locker. Also, is this a new fanny pack? It's not the lululemon one...

if you have a backpack and an umbrella, why bring disposable ponchos? She has all sorts of specialized, ultra-light running windbreakers and raincoats, you tell me none of them could do the trick? Best get the plastic bag that you can throw away after. smh.

Finally, about the oh so clever plastic grocery bag for her race... 1 ) why not pack your reusable foldable bag? They are the same size. 2) I was almost thinking of suggesting it to my husband, since he runs half-marathons (21 km) and never packs any... but then I remembered that he only brings his keys, phone and headphones, which all fit in his hands/pockets. I guess he'll be fine.

The amount of stuff she takes for a 5 km is ridiculous. The salt tabs, food, lipbalm are all so extra, especially for something like a disney race, where you get a snack box after, and there are water stations all around. If you are stopping in the middle of your 5 km to eat a banana with peanut butter and to reapply lip balm, that's not even wogging at this point. And I'm sorry, but intervals make sense for long runs, but if you can run/wog a 10 miler, you should be able to straight up jog a 5 km.

    :being-confused-smiley-emoticon:

Since Don didn’t want them, did Jen take them to RM2? Or did she leave them at RM1 to be someone else’s problem?

    I bet she left them.

Or at the very least, she tried to. She did leave her boxes and stuff in the house for a whole year, until presumably, Don told her to get it out of the house.

Apparently two different mediums(and yes, take that with a grain of salt more than anything) have come out and given the marriage of M and H two years

IF it happens, she's got the golden of all golden tickets and will be fighting off interviews, that will of course be very well paid for

Oh wow this will be even better than the Amber Heard debacle 😂😂 roll up roll up come and get your popcorn 🍿 and English tea ☕️.

To be fair, considering what we know of Spare and Harry, it's possible it'll be worse - Harry seems to have been handled all his life by the palace; I think if Meghan wanted to, she could build quite a case or arguments in court. Johnny Depp, for all his alcool/drug(?) problems, was an established actor by the time he met Amber Heard - I think it was a lot harder for her to defend her claims in court. And while that's no guarantee, Depp had a lot more fans and, arguably, a lot of people that could testify of his character, etc.

Harry has been on what looks like a campaign to destroy his own public image for the last year - he's not starting ahead. He even admitted to hitting staff, doing drugs, being delusional, and wanting to kill his dad on a whim, has made racist comments/appearances in the past... if Meghan chooses her "truth" carefully, she could maybe not win in court, but certainly do enough damage PR wise that she gets a comfy divorce and bought off silence.

That being said, considering how bad she handled the case of her pregnancies and children's birth, I don't think she's that smart - the lies they tell about how they behaved during pregnancy and childbirth and for the miscarriages, are so weird. If you want to lie, why not keep it "normal"? Make it non exciting. Instead of "we danced between contractions and had a nice take-out dinner and huffed gas", just go - it was hard, I did breathing exercise or X method during contractions and whe nshe had a miscarriage, we went and sat under a tree to grieve (no grave digging). There, normal, and not suspicious (I don't care about the truth, it's just that the way they habdled the story is so dumb).

I had the video playing while prepping dinner and turned my back to it for quite a while. She was just babbling away about her purchases like she was on a manic high ('cause she is). She goes on and on about the pattern leggings and how she's stepping out of her comfort zone in the name of her Ali Edwards One Little Word for 2023, WIIIILD! Roar, I'm expecting a full-on cheetah print, in bright neon colours. Maybe a bold black and white zebra print? I keep chopping veggies, not looking at the screen.

Then she struggles to pronounce 'baroque' several times and I'm just confused. I turn around and see Jinny wearing the most tame print leggings ever. It's a barely noticeable circa 2007 swirly pattern in a super muted dark metallic foil finish on black leggings. :cant-believe-my-eyes-smiley-emo
This is wild? This is a risk? This is what you're worried about wearing without a thigh gap? Goodness me, Gene. You're such a drama queen.

Lol! It's almost the new hair part debacle.

It's the practice shorts all over again.

So many great books, written by talented writers and not ghost written, like Harry’s definitely was, and his book is the highest selling! :shaking_head_smiley_emoticon:

The only thing I am glad about is that hopefully some people can see that the Royals are just as messed up as the average person. Family feuds, backstabbing, jealousy etc. I haven’t read the book nor do I intend to. However, I don’t believe every word is a lie, like some do. I definitely think stuff is exaggerated but equally, I think other things are played down or it would cause huge scandals and Harry has to play the game carefully.

In any case, hopefully it helps take the blind loyalty blinders off of some people who think the Royals are some supreme, faultless beings.

I agree, that there's probably some truth in there, but who knows what it is. Royals right now are paid-for representatives of the state that got there through no achievement of their own, except being born into the family. In the modern world, it doesn't hold as much magic as it once did. If anything, we've seen some poweful houses inbreed themselves out of existence (see Hasbourg) or others being abolished(Greece, France, etc.), and these countries make it work with their elected representatives. It's especially weird since UK still has elected representatives. So why do you need to send Royals to attend stuff when you have elected officials? They're really just decoration at this point. Why not invite regular celebrities at that point?

For what it's worth, I now live in a dominion, and MPs of my province do not have to swear an oath to the king when elected, as of december 2022. It used to be the case, than a few MPs went : why do I have to?, and parliament recognized it was antiquated and very much silly to swear that oath when the fact they are subjects of the king is not a choice, nor is the king doing much in Canadian politics.

I feel this is kind of the first step to realizing UK royality has very little to do with anything political. They're rich, for sure, but plenty of other people are.

    QUOTE (Nefarious DisneyPrincess @ 17/1/2023, 23:00)
Having seen the whole Charles and Di drama and other Royal revelations I think this will blow over soon like the rest. The veil is off the Royal family and we've seen them warts and all for decades now. They are just like other dysfunctional families. Jealousy, trauma, mental issues, pedo Uncle etc. The Queen was the classy old school glue. Now she's gone and that respect will not be there for subsequent generations. Tattletale books have come and gone. Most people I know are just ignoring it all. Only the trashier media and people who thrive on gossip are into this current drama.

I also think that the Queen was already pretty old and had earnestly served a long time when people started questioning the relevance of modern monarchies - people probably somewhat felt attached to her as a public persona, and are you really going to kick and 80 year-old woman to the curb?, etc.

But the new ones? Unless they serve a more covert purpose, they don't do much aside from making public appearances, do they?
  15. .
But still, no matter the truth, what doesn't make sense is, if you must lie, why contradict yourself so much, or make it so unbelievable?

Miscarriages and births are so well documented, it wouldn't be that hard to tell a non remarkable story - why talk about huffing gas and burrying clots of blood with your bare hands, or the home births in a geriatric first pregnancy? *or getting in the hospital, eating a meal and dancing around? Or going back home two-hours after?

Just say, "my waters broke, I got admitted as per the plan, the birth went fine, we got discharged (standard number of days for healthy birth in the country it happened). We were exhausted and happy. The end.

Did they actually make a full narrative of their story, and never have someone that knew anything about childbirth proofread it? Or are they both making stuff up on the spot, and not checking to cross reference the dates or see the whole picture?
