I think theories one and three are the most probable. I just can’t believe that she wanted to divorce Don and give up her completely cush lifestyle (yes, her current lifestyle is very cush compared to most, but she doesn’t have Don there to dote on her and give her pretties every week. and she is clearly miserable now). And she absolutely resented CC for taking over the princess in Don’s life role.
I think the “no longer romantically compatible” comment is most telling. It suggests that trust was broken and the relationship is irreparable (An extramarital affair), one party is into something the other party just can’t jump on board with (S&M, drugs, etc. ), or one party has self discovered a new sexual identity (bi, gay, polyamorous, etc ).
I can envision Don in all of the above scenarios, but not Jen (unless she is on the downlow and identifies as lesbian). However, her relationship with the Ross’ changed after kids. Their interactions were different. Jen lost her filter and seemed resentful of them as if something happened within the larger family unit to cause discord.
Can anyone identify when Jen’s treatment of the Ross’ shifted? When she skipped Mothers Day brunch?
