I don’t know, there could be a downside to the no colds and flu, because of immunity.

I recently had a nasty cold that lasted four weeks. It’s the worst I’ve ever had, with lots of chest congestion and coughing. I was tested for covid and it was negative.

I had quite a few friends and relatives come down with a similar cold, so it wasn’t just me. Also, fb friends across the country were sick too. I’m pretty healthy although older, but people 20 years younger than me had it.

Dr. John Campbell did a you tube video recently called Worst Cold Ever. He said a bad cold had spread across the UK, and people were saying it was worse than normal. He stated that it wasn’t worse than normal, but we’ve lost our immunity to colds due to low numbers of colds and flu last winter.

Of course I’m not saying we shouldn’t isolate and not wear masks. Better to get a nasty cold than die of Covid. But buckle up when you are exposed to cold season again, and stock up on your cold remedies. Thankfully we have the flu vaccine.

harassing children is a new low but nothing surprises me anymore

do any of you know anyone that is losing their job due to not getting vaccinated? an old friend posted "pray for those of us about to lose our jobs to protect our freedom" and I was just like :10:

she's a freaking nurse. first of all don't nurses have to stay up to date on tons of vaccines for obvious reasons?! but she won't get this ONE because...freedom

what are these people going to do that are willing to lose their job to make a point? where do they think they'll work? I should add that she just graduated this year and is a new nurse...but not for long I guess 🥴

There is a wicked rhinovirus outbreak in Ontario at the moment. It's a result of schools reopening and lowered immunity to cold viruses due to isolation. It was expected. The cold viruses are very contagious and masks offer only a partial protection. Kids are not always compliant with masks ,and even if they are, this virus is very pernicious.
Both of my kids are down with it at the moment. Runny noses, congestion, crumminess, low grade fever. Negative covid tests. They are isolated and recovering.
A mild cold has nothing to do with masks, isolating or covid vaccine, that goes on as before.

Good riddance to the foolish short sighted people who will lose their jobs because they don't want to get a vaccine that will help them and others, especially the patients they are treating. WTF is wrong with people. This is why I post intermittently in this thread.

Good luck to them finding a job elsewhere that won't require them to be vaccinated.

Said by someone who's long overdue for a new job and actively looking.

Personally I don't know anyone who's in that situation who is at risk of losing their job because of a covid vaccine.

More than 2 billion people have been vaccinated, so put on your big girl or boy undies and get vaccinated :t0152:

My assumption is that they folks losing their job over vaccine status is that they don't qualify for unemployment. They are being let for cause, they can't perform based on their employers requirements, right? That would be grounds for denying benefits. Does anyone know for sure?

I wonder how many of these people their employers are happy to get rid off and doing a happy dance. You got to imagine that some of them have to be disruptive in the workplace for other reasons, too.

I'll add I wouldn't have made them fire me. I would have resigned based on I couldn't perform based on their requirements

The antivaxxers, when discussing vaccine mandates and job losses, use the surveys. The surveys of the health workers who refuse the shot, and actual health workers who don't follow through with that threat are 2 different stories. In short, there are edgelords who are mighty on paper, but when it comes to reality, they get both the jab and the job LMAO.
VERY few quit, and those will likely make no difference .

Yes most RN's have to have the hep, flu, and one other I think. I do not understand why it's ok to take those but not the COVID vaccine. Only reason I can come up with is that it is now a political issue?

From what I have read, they will Not be eligible for unemployment, Unless they can prove it is due to health or religious reasons.
I wonder if the same applies to welfare benefits and food stamps.
I recently heard of a couple, she a school para, and he a parks department worker who are both refusing to be vaccinated. My mind cannot comprehend their decision...they have a child. What are they thinking?

The same people refusing to get the vaccine will line up for a Mcribb here in a few weeks.

I follow “Bad Vaccine Takes” on Twitter. It is amazing to see so many women not understand their bodies when going through menopause.

I should add that this old friend is currently working in a hospital that was getting CRUSHED by covid last year. of course since she just graduated she wasn't working there for that but you'd think a coworker would mention it to her?! the husband of one of my moms friends was taken to that hospital last year for covid and they had to transfer him an hour and a half away to another hospital where he later died

some anti Vax people I'm not surprised by but a freaking nurse? :20130930101758-5e972761:

I so agree. You would think after what a nurse has Seen, they would understand how important it is. Guess they have zero feelings...and yet, they have no problem getting other vaccines.

    Protect yourself and loved ones.

I work for a government contractor, and even though we are 100% remote with only occasional onsite work (and now it's even more occasional), today we were told that we would have to submit proof of vaccine before we can work on a project with a federal agency. There is one person at my company who refuses to get vaccinated. If he is on a fed contract and refuses to get vaccinated we will have to find other work for him on non-fed contracts or we will have to fire him.

ETA: Have you guys seen this whack job who would rather get a discharge from the air force than get vaccinated because she doesn't want to get a migraine or a panic attack? And she has the nerve to ask who would "undoubtedly" hire her and her compatriots?

If she’s hyperventilating over a vaccine, I doubt she’s military material. I think she’s using this as a way out.

According to the article, she’s had lots of job offers on her Tik Tok account. One said he owned a fence company and would hire her. Although, I bet that wasn’t what she was looking for lol.

    That is so sad.

Also even though I don't know your friend obviously, one would think if she's a recent graduate from nursing school, she'd be doing everything in her power to secure a job in the career she JUST trained for?!?! Like it's illogical. Surely she was driven to go to nursing school in the first place. Then to piss it all away for whatever irrational reason when YOU CHOSE TO GO INTO MEDICINE, I just don't even get it.
