My trees went up today and I love how festive it is.

I usually take them down mid-January, just after my birthday.

I think I'm going to take some of this weekend to start sorting out the daycor (ha) and see what all I have and if anything needs refreshed. I'm doing an inflatable outside for the first time and my 7 yr old is overjoyed. I probably won't do the trees until the weekend before Thanksgiving - but it will be here before we know it!

Does anyone have a really tasty recipe for a gingerbread house?

I'm planning on hosting a decorating party and the recipe I used last year wasn't very tasty

    TIA.

User Name of Choice It depends on what your family is into! If you have a favorite holiday movie or TV show, they have really cute Funko Pop ones for things like The Office or Harry Potter. Then there are socks for all age ranges and interests which I enjoy. Meri Meri has really nice wooden pieces (the Nativity set is my favorite). But one calendar for everyone…hmmm….I would suggest buying miniature ornaments on Amazon and getting a miniature tree to display in the kitchen, family room, etc… Each family member can pick an ornament out of the bag each day and add it to the tree.

So how does everyone feel about fruitcake?

I personally detest it since I was always made to have some every year without fail and it was the traditional kind that’s chocked full of nuts and dried fruit (neither of which I like very much) but was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or has found any recipes that made it in a different way that they’ve really liked?

I’m in the U.K. and I remember my mum making a boiled fruit cake so it’s done on the hob and then baked it was very moist she got the idea from her friend who is a good chef. Another tip if you make it early is to use a toothpick all over the top after a few weeks and drizzle brandy over it to keep it moist and fresh but I’m sure there are alternatives to the brandy for the non drinkers out there, also I would say make sure to customise it to fruit and nuts that you love ❤️
Regarding advent calendars i have the No7 and the Lindt bear chocolate one I’m such a kid 😂😂😂 and the beauty ones are mainly samples so yeh there’s that haha no rip off here move alone please 🤣

My dad used to make steamed plum pudding and do that with the brandy. Served with an orange hard sauce. Sooooooo good.

Speaking of fruit cake. I tried the new Mountain Dew Fruit Quake, and it’s wild! Fruity yet spicy. I’m not sure if I like it or hate it. I only bought one out of curiosity.
