Love how Shay is “implanting” strategies from the Lazy Genius. I think she means “implementing.” Way to go journalism, major!

    Love the thread title.

That "Lazy Genius" charcuterie snack board thing is just so dumb - and VERY typical Shay. In what world is it "lazy" to prepare a complete spread artfully arranged on a board for your kids' after school snacks??? What's wrong with (or at all more complicated about) letting your 11-year-old and 9-year-old grab things out of the fridge or pantry?

There is nothing quick or easy about making a charcuterie board for four kids instead of letting them each grab a snack out of the pantry. But, this speaks to the point that Shay thinks it's a flex to make things a lot more complicated than they need to be and then casually brag about how easy it was for her.

I also don't think she read the books in her book review OR wrote the reviews. The one for "The Heiress" in particular was not written in her "voice".

I had to say this because the contrast this week between Shay's exuberant "popping in" to ACK days before Easter and my necessary travel was just to much BS to swallow. Travel is hard work, anyone reading here that travels knows this. Nothing is relaxing, glamourous or fun. It is exhausting. I had to travel for work this week the exact same days as Shady, only my travel time door to hotel was easy only 3 hrs with 85 degrees & sun. I dreaded leaving home for days. I was seriously hoping every ache and pain was me getting sick, I wanted to get sick so I could cancel the trip & just stay home! I hate leaving my family, bed, TV, sofa, refrig/ snacks, the comforts of my home more than anything. Yes I enjoy travel and a few trips but in general I hate to leave my family no matter the nice resorts or destination. Same with my hubby and most friends I know. We would all rather be home then slogging through dirty, crowded airports and planes filled with misery and all the hassles. If you are truly happy with your life, you enjoy the simple things with your family. It is inexplicable to me how Shay can enjoy this constant motion of traveling 24/7. Unless at your core you hate parenting and pretend otherwise, unless you hate your marriage and pretend otherwise, unless you hate your life and run from it at every opportunity. Shay would rather be anywhere at anytime than at home. She can spin a different tale how she loves travel but I think her actions show us otherwise. Shay has serious mental health issues. You don't leave your kids and life any chance you get unless your miserable and your unhealthy lifestyle of travel matters more.

I worry about Ashby going in to middle school next year. Yeah, yeah, Shay has reassured us all that Ashby is SO READY for the change. But my kids were ready for middle school too, and they both had good experiences. However, they needed me to be emotionally available to them more than ever. Middle school years are just different. Puberty hits. Friendships change. I just doubt that Shay and Drew have genuine connections with their kids that they desperately need. Ashby’s eyes look blank at times, and she looks sad. She probably doesn’t even know what she needs from her mom. She may not feel safe showing sadness and anxiety.

Re: the board snacks--when my kids were young I did basically the same thing. For some kids it just is so much easier to present a snack that is already ready; they'll eat it because it's in front of them when, if offered choices, it could be 9 different things in various combinations. At that age, I also wanted something that was more of a small meal so they could get through sports practice, games, etc. before a late dinner.

I do think that Ashby's middle school experience is going to be very different from the OGs' time in middle school; Shay is going to have problems if she's not available more.

"For the last two weeks, I’ve made these little snack boards almost every day before I walk to get them from school."

Her kids went back to school last Tuesday after spring break. So 4 days in school last week. Shay left at 5am on Tuesday to go to Nantucket. How is 5 school days = 2 weeks???? And she says "almost every day," so she admits it wasn't even every one of the 5 days. So it was probably just the 3 days of boards she photographed. She is such a liar.
