.In defense of Jen, some of us just suck at home decorating. Most of my stuff is from pottery barn or crate and barrel because there’s always a person there to make sure that I don’t buy something that'll look stupid.
I’m pathetic when it comes to home decor. Awful. But the difference with Jen is that she could afford an interior designer to redo her whole house at once even if it involved more renovating.. -
.Jen is an art history major. And she has gone on & on about how much she loves being a housewife & being home.
Styling a home & putting a look together should come more naturally to her.
Jen just memorized a bunch of stuff she put on index cards. We have see ooh and ahh over tacky art before. She didn’t internalize anything she learned.
Being a housewife and having an eye for design and style are not the same thing. I’m a terrible housekeeper but good at putting a room together. Not everyone has an eye and not everyone can look at an empty room and envision how it will look when complete. My mom is really good at decorating and I was pretty old before I realized that the vast majority of people just shove couches in a space and find a coffee table.
What Jen really needs to do is hire a professional. She has the money. Her house now makes no sense. The claundry and the kitchen belong in a different house. Why Jen and Don won’t pay for professional interior design is astounding to me.. -

For years she had whimsical and fun Christmas decor. Maybe no interior designer would sign off on it, but it was so Jen. The spoon tree, all the coordinating plates & mugs, the Charlie Brown tree in the basement, the Woodland Creatures tree in the family room, the Martha Stewart houses, etc etc. And now that she has kids - galvanized metal? Lack of color? WTF Jenbo.
I hope she at least puts the Charlie Brown tree up in the basement since the kids spend time down there.

I have watched that show and they literally put trash in people’s homes. The shiplap is okay, if overdone. Literally putting scrap metal in homes is not and I don’t even think it’s sanitary.
