A family member got married for the second time, second marriages for both of them. The children were 5, 6 & 7 (5&7 biologically related) when they married. It was very difficult for them to assimilate as a family at first, especially since at the time of the marriage, all of the children were living primarily with their other families. It was hard to watch. They all were in counseling from the beginning. The kids noticed favoritism among them and their respective parents. Fast forward to the preteen/early teen years and only the oldest lives with them now. The other two took dramatic measures to live with their other parents/grandparent. Blended families sometimes work but more often, there are issues and it’s very hard on everyone. I hope things work well for Don & T once the honeymoon phase is over.
Yeah, I think some are assuming it will work out great because the kids are around the same age. I'm 35 and there are still issues with my blended family's dynamic, although I don't have stepsiblings, just half siblings.. -

And I remember watching & thinking that, even for Jen, it was kind of shocking… here’s a girl who has bins upon bins of rumpus markers & pens & pencils who has the audacity to whine about her husband & his few extra pens taking up space in a kitchen drawer.

I just watched this video today! It was her junk drawer clean out video. Starts at 10:30. It was in 2019 so maybe they were already on rocky roads and his 20 pens pushed her over the edge...

My theory-
She'll be back as soon as she's found someone else on YouTube to glom on to and copy.
I think her issue right now is that she's struggling to figure out who she is. She's NEVER known.
Her entire adult life has been about copycatting someone else.
Before YouTube, it was copying Suze and Emily - with the house in the same neighborhood, same home decor style (Pottery Barn, same color choices, etc)
No matter how hard she tries to portray herself as the opposite.... she is incredibly co-dependent, has very few valuable, practical life skills, and has never, ever, ever had any kind of sense of her own identity.
Once she got the idea to start her channel - it was copying Ingrid Nilsen, TiffanyD, Estee Lalonde, etc. Suddenly she was into nail polish and makeup and had the good fortune to have a husband who would bankroll all her content.
Looking back, I see a very over-arching theme of Jen just filming things she bought herself - and sometimes things for others - and trying to spin it all in to a "lifestyle and organizing" channel.
Even the packing and travel vlogs were just a way to show off.
She could not come up with any kind of content on her own even then.
If she didn't show off some trip or a bunch of crap she bought, she just ripped off a video idea from someone else that she followed.
It fit right in to her housewife schedule, too, because she had all the time to shop and film and edit.
Then....
She had the kids and things started to unravel.
She had to shift her content because she had kids and no time to just fanny around and shop and film it.
Hell, she didn't even have time to clean and "organize" and we ALL know that all that holiday decorating she used to do and was so proud of - went right out the window.
Once the marriage hit the skids... (I'm still of the belief that she threw one too many tantrums and told Don to leave... and this time he grew a pair, called her on her shit, and left)
She tried to find some kindred spirits in the Ali Edwards crowd and then Glennon Doyle.
Glennon, the Love Warrior who had a couple of kids and proceeded to blow up her own marriage and then write books about her "journey"
However, Jen didn't count on Don finding anyone else.
All those years of telling herself that she was out of his league - I'm sure she was blindsided as hell when she found out he'd found someone else and was REALLY moving on.
- sidenote -
I don't think Don cheated on her - I just feel like he didn't. But I DO think that mayyybe he met Tens either while married to Jen or just after her left. Maybe he didn't act on anything while he was with Jen, but I think Tens has been in his life - in some way - for a while longer than we know.
Just a feeling I have
So now, here's Jen.
With no YouTube role model that she can follow on any kind of similar journey.
She tried with the VanLife thing, but she likely realized that she ain't cut out for living in a small space with very few belongings for any really length of time (Who the hell was she trying to kid with that idea anyway....?)
But one day - she'll have found someone new to copy and she'll come back.
And we'll figure out her shit - again -
and keep on snarking..
