| I *think* Karen Carpenter died from her abuse of thyroid medication to speed up her metabolism, but of course none of the other things helped the situation either. I saw the movie and remember she seemed to be improving towards the end, but that might have been made up. I don’t know much about her except her song We’ve Only Just Begun was my folks’ first dance at their wedding.
As for Eugenia, I think she’s 28 so time is running out. The body can only take so much damage. Lisa doesn’t look that bad to me, weight-wise. She just needs maybe another 5-10 lbs. and some exercise and she’d be fine.

Why doesn’t she go out on the boat with them more? We’d see it if she did. One of the things I’d like to do before I croak is ride in a speedboat, but I don’t know a soul who has one and we’d never own one because my husband has no interest (and can’t even do home repairs so no way could he keep up with boat maintenance). Lisa is lucky to have the chance! |

This is very true. There’s a strong brain-gut connection (there’s a ton of good books about this) and I spent my school years and many working years having terrible stomachaches and other symptoms daily. It took until lunchtime for things to settle down, and sometimes the problems returned later in the day because I was dreading the next day. I spent a lot of time visiting an IBS forum 20 years ago and reading everyone’s graphic stories! Anxiety is a beast. It can still occasionally cause my gut to act up and that in turn will trigger a panic attack.
If I had to eat Lisa’s diet, I’d probably choose not to eat much at all. So much greasy meat… |
