I think that single men around 40 are probably divorced, maybe looking for a supportive life partner. Maybe they have had a bad breakup, their kids are a little older. At this age they're probably thinking or planning for retirement, scheduling colonoscopies or prostate screenings. At this age, they are not looking for a woman that demands to be carried days after back surgery.

Not that this is old by any means, but just a different time of life. They are probably looking for enjoyable company, with some shared interests and an interest in sharing different interests. I'm thinking of a dad type who loves kids, maybe would volunteer as a t-ball coach but then isn't allowed to watch the football in that house. Maybe he's the type to read stories to the kids at bedtime and he better hurry because there's a 40 year old in bed with the covers pulled up to the neck expecting to be read to. Maybe he has had a long day at work and is looking forward to a couple of burgers and a beer, but he forgot to get the vegan cheese instead of regular cheese, and now he's not allowed to eat it because somebody watched a video about dairy cows, and it's time to reclaim being vegan, and he will get no sex for at least another couple of months. I just don't see any man putting up with this, maybe an insecure 20 year old in his first relationship, but beyond that I don't think there's anyone who would tolerate it. How many are going to provide a seemingly endless stream of stuffed animals and jewelry, cheery grocery store flowers and God Forbid or How Dare They put a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich in the freezer.
