Pearl broke her glasses. That’s what happens when your kids are taught they don’t have to respect anything. My son is 13 has been wearing glasses since he was 5. Between his vision changing and growth he’s had 6 or 7 pairs and has broken one set which wasn’t even his doing our neighbor at the times kid who was a menace threw a ball at him and knocked his glasses off and then proceeded to stomp on them right in front of us. He even plays competitive sports and has never broken a pair on the field. How is pearl breaking glasses at a school?

    oh thanks for this recommendation!
When I'm not reading, I do needlework/cross stitch on very small count fabrics and always need good light.
I have a decent one, but nothing to take with me when I visit family...
this might be worth a try!

This is the light I use when I cross stitch and crochet. The battery life isn’t great when on the brightest setting which is needed for stitching but it’s a great packable option. I have two so when one dies I have a backup on the charger

I do way more than her and unless I physically take a walk/get on the treadmill I’m hard pressed to get 10k steps.

Thanks, I was going to ask how many steps per day people here get on average? I struggle to hit 10,000, but that's because I tend to not wear my watch all day, so I never get an accurate count. My watch is so confused trying to set a step goal for me because in winter I will go many days in a row without wearing it, then just put it on for a little bit. I do wear it whenever I run, so that's usually 4K-6K steps in one workout and I'll hit the step goal for the day by 6 am if I do my run in the morning. 😂

Maybe Lemon should take a road trip to Virginia and go get some steps in with Jammerrill!

I had major hip surgery in September with my hip still not being at 100% and it’s the dead of cold ass winter here in Upstate NY but I still average 7-10000 a day. I recently stopped wearing my Apple Watch so who knows how many steps I get each day but MOST days I walk 2-3 miles either outside with the dog or on the treadmill.

How the hell is she making mark do chores when she is home all day and has two perfectly capable children at home all day with no extra curricular activities?!?! She can’t even set up his lunch for the next day to make his life easier? What a pathetic lazy human.

I am an avid reader. I finished 90 books last year I think maybe 4 of them were YA. This year I decided to not only track how many books I was reading but also track how many pages. In January I finished 7 books and 2822 pages. I also listened to 5 audio books for 55 hours. Even my husband who isn’t a huge reader and works a full time job finished 2 books last month.

    Steve’s gone…

How do you not realize that he uses Pantene shampoo as well as the conditioner?

    You give yourself away…

    Every time I :blushing-smiley-emoticon:

This was the weirdest thing to me. What stay at home wife doesn’t have a clue what products her husband uses. She does the shopping and cleaning (if it gets done which I doubt) so how doesn’t she know what he likes to use? It’s also not like they have multiple showers in their house so is she also not cleaning herself? I do all the shopping in our house but im still 100% confident that I could send my husband to the store to pick me up basic hygiene products and he at the very least come home with my preference brand and product type just because he sees them all the time. Sure he may grab a moisturizing shampoo instead of a volumizing but he knows what products I use in the shower and the brand I prefer for basics like shampoo and conditioner, body wash, face wash and what razor blades to get.

I only have one kiddo so maybe it’s normal but it seems weird to me that lemon doesn’t schedule multiple kids appointments back to back. Isn’t that what most parents of multiple kids do especially for the dentist/drs appointments?

This month I had a pretty successful month of reading! Happy to celebrate that for anyone else too :) My list includes:
    Yellowface, RF Kuang
The Book of Delights, Ross Gay
The Happy Ever After Playlist, Abby Jimenez
    The Ex Hex, Erin Sterling
All Boys Aren't Blue, George M. Johnson
Under the Whispering Door, TJ Klune

Under the whispering door was my favorite book of 2023. Everything about the way tj Klune writes is for me.

damn that is a lot of reading! I read 4 books  I just finished Circe and loved it. it was a major departure from what I typically read but I heard so many good things about it that I decided to give it a go. it is beautifully written and I loved the story overall. Circe is a badass chick. you can certainly tell that the author is well educated in Greek mythology

Chalky I will be curious to see what you think about The Guest List. I liked but didn't love that book. I think part of the reason is that I felt like it DRAGGED on lol

I also didn’t love the guest list. I gave it 3 stars and promptly forgot about it

I cannot believe the amount of yogurt she bought. There are only 3 people living there. Yogurt is perishable, if they actually eat all that before it spoils, then no wonder they are all overweight.

Darlene is starting a new healthy relationship with food. She did the same thing in April, the same thing in September (her "new" year), now in January she is at it again. Funny thing about her healthy relationship with food. She just keeps getting fatter. But she doesn't want any advice because apparently she knows what she is doing. And I don't believe her doctor is giving her any advice about her diet. No health care professional would say she is eating anywhere near healthy. I am less than half Darlene's size, my meals look nothing like what she eats. Maybe there is a connection there? Nope, Darlene knows what she is doing. The proof is, she lost 2 pounds. :snickering:

We go through a ton of yogurt in our house. The right selection is low in sugar and high In protein. My son eats at least 2 light and fit Greek banana cream a day. The choice of yogurt is what’s important so we always make sure what we buy has more protein than carbs and is low in added sugars. We really like the Danon light and fit Greek for fun flavors and the okios triple zero which has no fat or added sugars. Darlene just doesn’t make the right choice for which kind she buys and focuses on ones that are sweet

Lemon posted her workout yesterday. A 20 minute dance workout followed by 5 minutes of arms. Yet she needs a pop tart to do that. I can’t.

I know a lot of people were disappointed in Iron Flame, but I loved it. Of course it wasn't as good as Fourth Wing, but I still enjoyed it very much. I do hope the author takes some time in writing the next books and doesn't rush them. The potential for a great series is there and I hope she doesn't ruin it.

I read another of her books The Last Letter and it broke me. I'm not usually too emotional with books(unless the dog dies lol) but I cried a few times throughout it.

I’m in the camp of not enjoying iron flame. I loved fourth wing mostly because of the disability rep which was basically non existent in iron flame. But honestly my biggest issue with iron flame was just the writing/pacing. You can clearly tell how rushed she was to not only write it but then get it edited and pushed out on shelves. It really would have benefitted from another 3 months of work. Went to the midnight release at Barnes with a friend which was fun but I was 100% disappointed with the book.

Pop tarts are simply a fast digesting carb (energy) source, an incredibly poor one. I love lifting and watch a lot of incredible athletes (body builders, cross fit competitors, strong men) and most eat some sort of sugary carb source before a workout usually Rice Krispie treats or candy bars or cereal with protein powder. These are people that are training 90-100% max effort for 2-3 hours a sessions, don’t have goals of losing excess body fat, and have been training for YEARS. Nicole is barely maybe on the bubble of people whose training could benefit from eating something like this. lemon however is the exact opposite. She has little to no training experience. Is likely exercising for MAYBE an hour doing 3-4 strength exercises and then walking of the treadmill or elliptical at a leisurely pace for 20 minutes.

This is the issue with Nicole’s “program” and why lemon won’t be successful on it. Lemon is not at the point in her journey where she can be eating excess calories because she does not have the muscle mass and workout intensity to make up for it.

Any guesses on the dollar amount that will be spent on Buhrice's 13th birthday?

    $1300

I don't think Nicole is all that built for how much she works out. Maybe because she doesn't ever do a proper bulk and shred?

It has probably 10% to do with her diet and the fact that she’s clearly terrified to gain weight so she doesn’t eat enough calorie dense foods, 5% to do with her age/genetics and 85% to do with her shit training form/program. She tries to lift too heavy of a weight so she doesn’t have proper form or time under tension. If she dropped the weight by 10% and spent more time doing controlled tempo work she would grow more muscle.

I have so many issues with Nicole’s “health” program starting with the fact that she has zero credentials. She’s not a registered dietitian or a certified trainer. Her form in the gym is often shit. Her plans are not adjusted per a persons starting point and health history. One day someone is going to get sick or injured following her shred bullshit.

Not to mention that Nicole refuses to admit that her eating and exercise obsession is also problematic. She may not be over weight any more but that doesn’t mean the way her entire personality is formed around her eating and workout regimen is healthy nor is the constant body checking.

In a lot of ways I find her more problematic than lemon because what she preaches could be dangerous to a large portion of her general audience.
I applaud mark and vee for finally deciding to take control (not that I think it will stick) but especially with marks health an untrained coach is going to do more damage than good. To extreme of a fitness regimen or her high fat/protein/salt meal plan or drinking a gallon of water a day could easily send him into an actual health crisis.

What the family really needs is easy
    Cut out alcohol
Lower portion sizes and extremely limit processed foods
Limit non water beverages to 1 a day and lower caffeine intake
Go for a walk take the kids and dogs do 30 minutes a day before or after dinner
    Go to therapy.

Complete these steps for 90 days and THEN consider adding a registered dietitian who can advise you on a proper meal plan for your personalized goals with consideration to your blood work and health concerns and a certified trainer to help you begin to build muscle in a way where you aren’t going to hurt yourself

I’ve finished 2 audio books and 1 physical read so far this year. Listened to Bad Cree by Jessica Johns which is an indigenous horror book about dreams and grief. 4 stars.
Also listened to clown in a cornfield 2 by Adam cesare. It’s a ya slasher horror. It was fine 3 stars.
Physical read was stolen tongues by Felix Blackwell. Another horror book about dreams with indigenous themes and my favorite of the 3 finishes. 4 stars.

Currently have 3 reads going. Tress and the emerald sea by Brandon Sanderson on audio, house of sky and breath by Sarah j Maas as my physical read and these hollow places by T Kingfisher on my kindle. I usually only do one physical read and one audio at a time but house of sky and breath is way too large for me to take to the gym to read during cardio or to the kiddos soccer practice so I started a kindle read too
